  1. As a Thunder fan, I don't think I can adequately express how badly Thunder fans want to destroy anything and everything that has to do with that 2016-2017 Warriors team. The playoff series against that team, the Klay Thompson game, Kevin Durant leaving, all of it, left a scar on this team and this city.

The championship felt great, but to eclipse that team would be karmic justice.

  2. OKC has improved this year. Last year, OKC's offense was transition and ISO ball, drive & kick to the shooters, while playing phenomenal defense.
This year's team is more dynamic. The players are more confident, incorporating new combo moves that just weren't there last year. And the offensive scheme is different, more read & react, more movement, more organic. And their defense is even better. The numbers bear it out.
Point Differential: Last year +12.8 (1st)
    This year: +15.5 (1st)

Points per Game: Last year: 120.5 (4th)
    This year: 122.5 (4th)

Points Allowed: Last year: 107.6 (3rd)
    This year: 107.0 (1st)

Who knows their ceiling? It's gonna be exciting to find out.

  3. For OKC, resting the team for the playoffs is more important than the 70+ game regular season record IMO

  4. OKC goin 79-3?! But for real, if we can rest players down the stretch after securing the 1 seed in February, I’d be okay with that.

  5. As a Thunder fan who was at the inaugural game in 2008 and our first playoff game in 2010. I saw our first finals game ever in 2012 and was at the last game KD ever played in a OKC Jersey in 2016. I say this emphatically, i could give no cents about them breaking the all-time record. The 2016 Dubs have the best regular season record of all-time yet when we refer to their dynasty, we only ever mention that season whenever we're talking records or talking about the Cavs winning. In general, we talk about the 2017/2018 repeat because that was the peak of their dynasty. in the end – what matters is championships. 74-8 sounds great but i'll take another championship parade in a heartbeat. If going for the record at all compromises that – then its not even worth it.

  6. The numbers are crazier than last season for OKC actually. 15.6 net rating vs 12.8 last season. The defense is -11.6 drtg better than league average, last season it was -7.1 (which was the third best mark in history if I'm not mistaken)

  7. Record should be a bonus. Okc should not force it. But need that burst for the playoffs

  8. As an OKC fan i would love to see us hit 74/75 wins. I will never predict anything 70 or over because that's just a batshit crazy prediction. However i do think we're capable of it but honestly, i really don't care. Its the second title that matters.

  9. As a Thunder fan, I don't really care about the record. It would be cool, but I don't think they need to push themselves to go for that. They're deep enough that they might not need to push for it, but basically, they just need to focus on keeping everyone healthy and rested for the playoffs (especially Chet). If that ends up leading to 74 wins, awesome. If not, oh well. I care more about locking up the 1 seed than getting 74 wins.

  10. Living in Oklahoma for 40 years, so I'm a Thunder fan.

The fans talk about the season record way more than the players I'd think. The casual fan has trouble separating the season record from the Chip. I hope the team is focusing on the Chip. If the win record is within reach without sacrificing rest for the playoffs, let's go for it.
