Ryan Kalkbrenner’s DAD ENERGY POWERS Hornets WIN | Rookies SHUT DOWN Bucks | Tre Mann CLUTCH

The Charlotte Hornets beat the Giannis-less Milwaukee Bucks by playing their most physical game of the season, fueled by Ryan Kalkbrenner’s incredible “baby daddy” performance. The team shattered their third-quarter curse, holding Milwaukee to just 22 points, showcasing the immediate impact of their rookie class.

The Charlotte Hornets pulled off a 111-100 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, defined by their most aggressive, physical performance of the season. The defense set the tone, holding the Bucks under 30 points in all four quarters.

The story of the game was the center rotation. Ryan Kalkbrenner, fresh off the birth of his first child, put up 17 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting, dominating with his “baby hook.” Moussa Diabate backed him up, owning the glass with 13 rebounds and fueling a 19-to-5 second-chance points advantage for Charlotte.

This win also saw the Hornets finally break their third-quarter curse. They won the period 24-22, playing with composure and committing only three turnovers. While the star rookies had cooler shooting nights, players like Tre Mann stepped up with key offensive buckets. The big question coming out of this win: Does Kalkbrenner’s stellar play change the calculus on whether the Hornets should pursue a star center like Domantas Sabonis?

  1. Walker you don’t gotta look so serious on tv man you can add a lil smile 😂😂

  2. If a team can’t get prepared for games or play with physicality, that falls on the coach. Just look at the Houston Rockets — their new coach transformed the entire culture in year one.

  3. Seeing Walker on live gave me hope that not everyone i hear on these broadcasts is a complete schill.

Well done sir. Dont be afraid to smile.

  4. Why do you keep bringing up Sabonis lol? He's terrible. Centers that can't protect the rim and put up empty stats on terrible teams are not worth trading for.

  5. What's good Doug? That was a great insight you brought up about OKC coming out the gates firing on all cylinders..if we could play like that and set the tone early, then the refs would have to think twice calling a bunch of fouls or whatever in the first quarter. Great strategy 👏

  6. Great podcast Doug 🙌🏻, brilliant points on Kalk and his boxing out on the defensive glass 👍🏻. In the 1st quarter he was 1-1 with Turner posting up and the block was immense 🙌🏻. Like you said our physicality was there too see and was impressed with our performance last night 🏀, onwards and upwards, let’s go Hornets 😃🙌🏻

  7. Not sure where we stand league-wise but our two center rotation is averaging 19.8 pts per game on 73% shooting. Along with 14.3 boards and 3.9 blocks. That's gotta be pretty darn good.

  8. I think you're underestimating McNeeley. Far more talented than say, NSJ, and lots of upside if he gets a chance to play and develop. And don't forget he's barely 20 yrs old.

  9. I thought you were gonna say reversing the curse by trading for an often injured player 😂

  10. I think kalkbrenner completely fills in for mark williams. Good touch on offense with high percentage and blocks shots

  11. Our girl said congrats to your first timeout talk Walker!

    “I’m tired” – Walker.

Lol. You looked good though brother! Great work!

  12. It’s a real thing. When athletes have newborn children, they play so much better. They have something to play for, some new energy. That’s always been a strategy I use in Fantasy Sports Leagues. Big Kalk Daddy is a man now! I’m happy for him.

  13. As an Australian , and how we view our sports, this looks to be progressing beautifully. The best two players injured , but the young first year players standing up pretty much in every game is huge. It is a team that needs to learn how to win ( Pellies and Heat games, and even the Lakers to some extent) , and the signs are that it is indeed learning. So, I think, are the coaching panel. And the coaches seem very consistent on the development pathway. And I'm not as down on the Melo / Brandon injuries. Here in Oz, our main sports are 1 game per week. The NBA schedule gives a skewed viewpoint, because a relatively short two week injury translates to 7 or 8 games rather than 1. Ankles and shoulders are never just one or two week injuries in football, for instance, so I'm not at all surprised that they haven't returned yet. Hopefully we get them back soon, of course. And Grant Williams would give us some great size and aggression. I think we're building ok.
