Not exactly bc of Nico, but with Flagg this current situation is a 2 to 3 year window now. Maybe for long term and asset reasons you want to plan for a 5 year window in 5 years but IDK future is hard to predict that far out.

Not a Mavs fan but I think the Mavs should stick with AD and Kyrie this season. If things don't work out, trade both along with Klay and DLO and start the rebuild. Isn't it super sad that after 14 games (or even earlier), teams are already considering tanking? What kind of stupid ass league system is that? I grew up with european football, where the worst teams are fighting for their lives the whole season to not be relegated. This is just ridiculous to me. We should be trying to win every game. Mavs do have some players. Yeah season is likely lost this year but im not a fan of " blowing it up". Their are good pieces here that work and certainly make a strong team next season with Kyrie back and Flagg just more seasoned( and probably extra motivated). Trade AD and Dlo by trade deadline to get some draft capital but also guys to fill in things we need like a good wing/ guard defender and another ball handler/ shooter- (Bulls can certainly offer some of that). After trade deadline, really lean into building around Coop, Max Christie, Lively, id add Brandon Williams, maybe play Ryan Rembhardt more, along with the Vets you intend to keep next season. Mavs can get a top 10 pick next draft that can be a win now move while building to the future and prep fir a strong season with a healthy Kyrie and second year Coop.

Why do yall mention the whole “when teams start 3-10” means they’re out the playoffs. Were those teams also injured as much as this Mavs team? How many of those teams didn’t have their stars majority of the start of the season? Cooper needs to start having mentality that he is the star on this team. He can easily avg 20 a game if he just takes more shots. He's very efficient inside the arc and doesn';t need to jack up up so many 3's till he gets a better shot.

All this organization disarray that copper is dealing with is going to make him step up and accelerate sooner… some that would break them… but he’s playing through it and stepping up. He’s gonna be greater from this chaos cuz he’s playing well. Next year he’ll jump to 20 ppg be a great decision maker, then I feel he’ll become a 25 ppg plus type of player.. all from this disastrous start organizationally. Making him play PG, the stress in the background, he’ll blossom from this.
