I've been saying it for awhile, but people need to think less what Memphis got for Bane and more what Brooklyn got when they traded Kyrie to the Mavs. You get a first and maybe a good role player.
being GM is lot like a fireman – youre not so busy most of the time, just preparing, doing youre due diligence , but at those rare occasion you get to make a really big decision that you dont get to repeat. Mavs have made it and now for the foreseeable future they have to live with it. Worst thing they could do is panic and try to fix it right away. It would only put us in bigger hole . There are no Lukas every year, and those that come in next years you probably will not get a chance to go after. Just have to hope that Cooper develops into a star , that you dont fumble the pieces around him and that hes happy in Dallas. You just have to be patient, pick a lane and stay with it.

I think most people saying “don’t trade AD” are saying “don’t trade him now.” Last season’s situation felt more on Nico than AD, since he wasn’t allowed the time to properly heal. As a result, he re-aggravated the injury he already had coming in. This season, I’m disappointed in AD—but is it really his fault that he took an elbow to the eye from Gafford, a Goliath of a man? That setback derailed his training. Let him fully heal, and then we can reassess. Personally, I don’t want to see a lumbering, slow-footed AD. At times he was moving like Shaq, which is unacceptable. And if I noticed that, don’t you think every other GM did too?

You could very well not trade AD and see how he plays with a healthy Kyrie and Coop. There are two issues with that:
(i) AD bleeds trade value if you keep him another season. Then he'll be on a potential expiring next season with a player option on the 2027-28 season.
(ii) Dallas wants to be bad this season and land a top three pick in next year's talented draft class. They have injuries to major players as genuine excuses.
Lastly, I think the Mavs should interview Masai Ujiri. He was a championship winning president of basketball operations with the Raptors.
It's not AD isn't great i love him when he's healthy and locked in…but he's always hurt from his eyes to his big toe😮😮😮😮..there's always something going on..trade him now..I dont believe in him nomore..
