It’s WORSE Than We Thought!
Wemby is OUT for a few weeks… and the Spurs’ season just got a whole lot more interesting. And not in a good way!
In this video, we break down what happened, how long he’s expected to miss, and what this means for San Antonio moving forward. Can the Spurs survive without their superstar? Who needs to step up? Let’s talk about it.

I absolutely did not want to make this video but, I got to report the news. Get well soon Wemby, we'll be waiting for you when you come back. Thanks for watching, GO SPURS GO.
FYI: Wemby has been diagnosed with a left calf strain after undergoing an MRI, the Spurs announced in a press release. He suffered the injury in Friday’s loss to Golden State.
Castle is another story. If he hadn't held the fort last season when the others gave up, the Spurs wouldn't have had 34 wins. This year, the team is solid, with players like Victor, Castle, Fox, Harper, Kornet, Keldon, Vassel, and Barnes on a good day. Carter Bryant needs to loosen up; he's playing tense. We need to let him go, even if he makes a few mistakes at first.
My theory is that the Spurs did well in the beginning to get people excited to vote for the new arena. Which they won only by a few percentage points. Now they are gonna tank the rest of the season to get great draft picks. Then next year they will be loaded maybe with another top 5 pick or trade for a tier 1 player.
I really do hope that theyre just being overly cautious with wemby's health!
If Fox can carry the Spurs to a winning record without Wemby, we have a chance in play off. This is a good test.
he'll be ight..health is wealth
This one hits. Hurts. Like an electric cattle prod to the heart. Even though he's only 21, I think it's fair to ask if a very difficult conversation needs to be had about coming up with a minutes restriction strategy for the rest of his career. No back-to-backs either. Address it now BEFORE it becomes an AD, Zion, Ja-type situation. I was hopeful when Wemby played 71 games his rookie year, with his seemingly having supernatural flexibility, and ability to even shrug off in-game hits.
No more. That blood clot last year out of nowhere, this calf-strain out of nowhere. We know Vic takes care of his body but let's face it — they go after him. Opposing teams swarm and beat up on Vic each and every game, they get up for games he plays more than other teams. Even bottom dweller teams like New Orleans take the Spurs to the wire because they play harder and it takes overtime to put them down. The additional physicality along with everyone always whining about him "not being in the post enough" where he can get knocked around any more means they're going to have to go to extraordinary lengths to protect him.
To me, that's less minutes, less games. Starting yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised/shocked when Wemby played most of the preseason. Now, I wonder if that was a mistake. He's been playing a lot of games lately 32+ minutes. Also, you gotta wonder there too. He had the minutes restriction his rookie year for a spell — they got nearly a full season out of him then. Maybe that's the way.
Because at this rate, he's already lost one Defensive Player of the Year award. Now, he might very well lose another one. That MVP campaign? If he misses 4 weeks, that's done. Finished. All-Star also in jeopardy. All-Star, All-NBA, all in jeopardy. You think Vic would make sure to get himself out there and play even spot Embiid minutes just to qualify, but who knows?
And this doesn't even take into account deep playoff runs, Wemby's desire to play in Eurobasket, the Olympics. How? How will he fulfill those obligations if he can't stay on the floor for the Spurs?
There needs to be a serious conversation had about how much he plays. If they're going to struggle to field a healthy Wemby for 65 games a season (not including playoffs), then they're going to need a minute allocation and roster to compensate for that.
As a fan base we've been fortunate to have our HOF/stars to be relatively healthy throughout our fanhood: Robinson, Duncan, Ginobli, Parker, all of them had injuries here and there, but nothing career-marring. That streak ended with Kawhi and now Wemby is trending the wrong way as well, something we all knew was possible considering his height, yet we hoped for the best. Kareem not Sampson Unfortunately, the naysayers and the "injury-riddled career" haters will have their voice and feast days until Vic's return. It also makes it difficult to preach patience and organic growth when you may worry that the hourglass has less sand than you previously believed. Yao was done at 32 — you think if the Rockets KNEW they only had a decade of production, they would've poured accelerant on the process. My guess is they would.
You can't help but wonder.
Coach Mitch Johnson gotta start using more than 7-8 man rotation and start using the whole bench (EXCEPT Bismack Biyombo) like the human body can’t take that much beating. So Mitch needs to start using 1-13.
Draymond destroyed him 😂😆
Fuck
Danny Manning
9 and 4 record which would have been 4 and 9 last year. Still 13 games in and OMG the sky is falling. I would normally say give it to 20 games and see what they have but with the injuries it might be 30 games in before they have an idea who plays with who. Fortunately to me it seems that being as deep as this team is it will work out. Kelly and Waters get more reps maybe even DJG. Bismack is worrisome and Jordan well he does what he can do. KJ, Devin and Jeremy kept it going before now with Fox, Luke, Kelly and Waters, I think they'll be ok. Probably 50/50.
Ok now we'll see if fox is a leader.. if not then he could be traded off season and vessel for a god lengthy wing
That sucks! I was planning on seeing him play the nuggets after Thanksgiving.
Hrs a big man that plays fast and hard. Shoes could be an Issue.
spurs still got it,luke kornet and fox got to step up
The coach doesn't know how to use Wemby. He is trying to do too much. He shouldn't asked to chase after Curry around in the game with Warrior. Why can't our guard chase Curry instead?
The little fkn troll Podjiemski is likely the culprit. He made a super dirty move towards the end of the game that tripped and knocked Wemby over. It was called a common foul. Dude should have a many-game suspension for that despicable BS.
Time for Biyombo to stand up!🤩
Terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible news
😮
Load management necessary for the big fella
Evidently not lol
He'll be alright, only Spurs fans who ACTUALLY BEEN TO GAMES no what's up.
I see an opportunity for Spurs to improve and not be dependent on Wemby. More XP for all of them.
It's over 😩
Here we go with the player management, player min restrictions, which will lead to more losses, we're gonna have stars sit out periodically through out the year spurs ain't trying to win this year, again!!
Too soon to start tanking? 😂
Early in the season and we got an all-star that can hold the fort while Wemby recovers. Hold the line! GSG!!
The team needs to prove they can win without Wemby anyways.
now I hope everyone has their eyes open too see vassell and keldon go back to normal against good teams and I mean disappear!!
We don't want wemby to be out! However this could help the team to be better! Hope he has a speedy recovery
We had 3 PG and were asking to trade Fox, now he is the only left 🤣🤣🤣 where are the trade Fox advocates?
It's crazy that all those calf strains, ruptured Achilles and blood cloth started popping up more and more after 2019/2020. I wonder why.
New perspective? When i was young i played soccer seriously, and calf-strains were common and not taken seriously. Looking back, i remember that i had a calf strain just a couple of weeks before my achilles popped — so, maybe SHOULD have taken them seriously, but we didn't. Maybe that explains all the calf-injury news: the injuries aren't new, but their being news is? Ché pas 🤷
