Might have to stop listening to these guys. Talk about an overeaction. The Mavs are 2 games outside of 10th and 5 games from the 7th seed, with 67 games left to play. According to AD and his camp he's ready to come back now and Kyrie would be playing if it were the playoffs. If those guys came back soon they could easily make the play-in at the very least, or even the top 6, and would be miles better than the other teams in 7-10 spots right now. But no let's give away everyone for peanuts and tank so maybe we can compete again in 5-10 years. Isaac even suggested trading Max Christie who is 22 years old and has gotten better every season. This team is bad. You just played the EASIEST part of your schedule and you are 4-11. Everyone except Cooper should be on the trading block really, both for the players to get them to contending teams and for the Mavericks to build around Flagg. No one is horrible on the Mavs. It is just going to take a good year or two to recover from injuries but that means those players have aged a year or two.
So you want us to hurry up and tank and give all these top 10 picks from 27-30 to other Teams while we wait for Flagg and anlther rookie to develop im 5 years and then have the HOPE of making the Playoffs with 22-23 year old Flagg and the other rookie and we still dont know if it will pan out like that so that year is like at least the 30-31 seasons? What the Mavericks need to do is play to win but also play everyone that is healthy so Kidd and the new manager can determine who they should keep. Today's NBA game is dominated by three-point shooting and that is what the Mavericks really lack. Centers need to be great rebounders and defenders, if they can be a reliable mid-range shooter that is great. Wings and guards need to able to defend both inside and at the three-point line. They also need to be able to score on the offense both in the paint and especially at the three-point line. The Mavericks just do not have three or four players that can be dependable three-point shooters over 35%. AD needs to be traded ASAP because he just does not fit into the future of the team. Trade him for at least one good three-point shooter and some draft picks. Keep Kyrie because he can lead the team and he can also shoot threes. See what Klay can do but if he cannot be consistent then trade him too. The roster needs to be filled with wings and guards that can play good defense and also shoot at least 35% on their threes. The Thunder are the best model of a complete modern NBA team of a couple of good centers, and the rest of the team are players that can defend and can shoot threes.

AD could still be valuable to this team during the 26-30 stretch. If AD has these injuries, couldn't we have a very similar conversation with him that Isaac is suggesting we have with Kyrie?
Slow down and gear up for next year. Play all out. We have Kyrie and AD at full strength with a year of development with Cooper and perhaps a top 5 pick.

They had another chance to get someone with Cooper. They should have traded Kyrie and Davis as soon as they got the Flagg pick and bring in some younger players. They're just too stupid.
What Isaac is talking about is called “the sunk cost fallacy“. You have to totally let go of what’s already lost and go from here and not try to recoup what you’ve lost, dreaming of a great trade for AD. If you can get a useful piece plus a single first round draft pick, which will go with the first round draft pick you already have, which could be damn good after tanking – that’s good enough.
Mavs are only 1.5 games back from the play-in. Play-in is much more likely than bottom 5 for lottery.
It is true that the Mavs didn't look good while AD was playing, but they were playing those games without a point guard.

The AD trade won't net nothing. They'll come out of it with 2 assets at least. And I'll be fine with that. The Luka trade was bad and they can't recoup the value lost. But they can use the AD trade to really set them up for a quick turnaround.

The bottom 5-6 of the Western Conference is surprisingly close right now. I'm "worried" that the Mavs, despite all the mess, end up at the 10th seed and get the worst of both worlds (early play-in exit, no high draft pick).
