I think Jokić will be out of the league by the time he’s 36. Not because he’s not still great, but he will be done by then & want to move on to other things and go home
The big guard who can playmake and be an entire offensive engine on their own is also my favorite type of player. It all began with Harden (although he's not as big as some of the others) and then transitioned to Luka. Cade seems to be the next evolution of that and it's making every Pistons game a must watch for me this season. Once he becomes a more consistent three point shooter and they get a legit secondary ball handler next to him to cut down on some of those turnovers, he's going to be a problem for a loooong time.
If Jokic gets even slower. No. He already isn't the best defender. If he gets slower and he will, it gets worse. I don't think he ages well. Younger stronger faster. Wayne Gretzky told his father he was retiring. He asked why you can still play. Wayne said, "Dad, every year I'm another year older and another year slower. Every year the players are getting younger and faster." It's not that he can't play. He'll be abused on the defensive end where his points like LeBaby's now really don't impact the game anymore Unless he has a crazy hot night. Because of what he gives up on the defensive end. 16 years of wear and tear. That's a long time. Jokic is not a thin guy. 5 more years of carrying that around. I just don't see it. But I hope I'm wrong because he's a great player.

Been busy so very late to the game here. Love Mares and Legler. But since Tim is busy, please, a lot more of Mares and Timpf together. No Dunks/The Starters are the undisputed OG's of hoops pods. Less analytical but huge knowledge of the game. What sets them apart is the personal chemistry that makes it so easy to watch them. Just a few times together but feels like this pairing could have similar personal chemistry. They obviously like and respect each other. Both now live in Denver. Let's do it boys. Create another high chemistry high hoops IQ pairing. Very rare.

I think the best comparison for Jokic and his career longevity is another fellow Serbian Novak Djokovic. The tennis player has become the best player of all time over in the last 5 years. He is currently 39 years old and the third best player in the world competing against 22-23 year olds. Jokic’s motivation is similar to Djokovic because Djokovic was not playing for just the money, since his career began he has been playing to PROVE that he is better than Federer and Nadal when the rest of the world outside of Serbia had him third best. And still to this day many people consider Federer or Nadal the best players while they say Djokovic has the best statistics. This is exactly the same fuel that Jokic will use to play well into his 30s to prove that Michael Jordan or Lebron James are not historically better.
I think the problem with Scottie is when the game slows down. He's incredible in transition and when the game is mucky but his handle makes it hard for him when the game slows down.
