Raptors get DESTROYED in New York| Post Game Live

The Toronto Raptors have been one of the more positive surprises across the NBA this season. They enter with a 14-6 record on the season, with an overtime loss to the Hornets in their previous game, snapping a nine-game winning streak. This will mark the second half of a back-to-back for Toronto. The Raptors are 10-10 against the spread this season, with the under cashing in 12 of their 20 games.

Brandon Ingram headlines the production with 21.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists on the season, while Scottie Barnes has been their jack-of-all-trades, adding 20.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists and setting the tone defensively. Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Gradey Dick and Collin Murray-Boyles round out most of their notable depth. Toronto plays a refreshing, team-oriented style of basketball, ranking second in the league in assists per game. RJ Barrett will remain sidelined today due to his knee injury.

The Raptors rank 13th in the league in scoring at 118.8 points per game. They rank third in field-goal percentage, 12th in three-point percentage and 23rd in rebounding. Defensively, Toronto is holding opponents to 112.8 points per game, which ranks third in the NBA. It is limiting teams to the worst opponent three-point percentage, ranks 10th in opponent field-goal percentage and is posting the third-best defensive rating.

The New York Knicks sit in third place in the Eastern Conference with a 12-6 record to start the year. They enter this matchup on a three-game winning streak and have the rest advantage after last playing on Friday. New York is 11-7 against the spread this season, and the over has cashed in 10 of its 18 games.

  1. I think Scottie did well tonight. He gave a good showing on a back to back in NY! CMB also showed up. Personally I am disappointed that Quickly isn't told to pass the ball to Scottie who actually can see the floor. I didn't expect Raptors to win,

  2. The Raptors have long been a team that has lacked even just average 3 point shooting and depth at Center. Both of these deficiencies were exposed in the Hornets and Knicks games So while the team did not win these last 2 games โ€“ management is ultimately responsible for the losses.

  3. Brandon Ingram was thriving when he got to play team hoops & less of an offensive load where he wasn't taking 20+ shots.

BI had 2 games in first 18 games where he took 20+ shots.

Last 3 games going into the Knicks game he's had 30 shots, 23 shots and 26 shots.

As the teams offense plummeted, sitting around 30th in the league in that span & now Raptors top 6 offense is sat at 17th in NBA.

All Jack Armstrong kept talking about early in this Knicks game was Ingram being let down the previous game & that others didn't show up for him v Hornets.

Ignoring Scottie was the hot hand & guys kept overlooking him even when Ingram didn't have it going.

Ingram going 0-9 in 4th quarter & OT, forcing up shots rather then feed the hot hand or creating easier looks for teammates when he was cold.

Ingram even taking the last shot again when things weren't going in for him that 4th quarter was another missed opportunity, this was after Ingram didn't bother contest Kon Konuepple game tieing 3 that put Raptors in that position of being able to win at the buzzer.

Ingram came into Knicks game fatigued & was a big negative on the court on both offense + defense.

Yet IQ kept feeding it to Ingram early who just didn't have it meanwhile the Knicks were playing team ball & killing the Raptors with 3s.

Darko did nothing about it & stopped coaching & was just riding with BI chucking shots, admiring him hoop.

Darko had a horrible coaching game past few games.

Darko killed the team when he decided to bench both Scottie & IQ after they made that run.

Darko also allowed the role players on the team + BI to continue making mistakes & not hooking them.

I saw Jakobe looking off an open Scottie when the team was struggling to score with Knicks nailing everything, Jakobe went there just to try dribble iso the ball & get to the rim & missing.

Knicks then went the other way & made a shot.

Jamal Shead whose been great all season has been horrible. Just bad PG play, bad game management's with fouling Brunson for no reason trying to pressure him while the Knicks were in the bonus when the team was making a run & were stuck on offense.

CMB also made some bone head fouls, but also alot of good things too.

Ugly game, Raptors went away from that team basketball, movement.

Offense has sucked. The ball went from moving, to stagnant & overdribble, iso ball heavy.

Also that nasty inbound play wrongly passing it to Ochai where he tried an off balance push shot/tip in at the rim rather then securing the ball for a better shot when the team needing to stay attached in the game.

Also the countless times lineups minus Scottie keep losing there man & giving up wide open layup or transition layup is ridiculous.

  4. What I don't understand about Darko: You know for a fact that Jakob is not playing back-to-backs.

โ€‹You're facing a team that has size. The Raptors are small but have the ability to play big if they wanted to. I understand Ja'Kobe for defensive purposes and Battle for spacing, but the team expects Scott to guard bigs on his own.

โ€‹Darko could have easily brought out a lineup of IQ, Scott, BI, Sandro, and CMB. This is purely to help Scott on the defensive end so he can have the legs to generate his offense.

You have a stretch semi-big in Sandro. A pesky, undersized big/wing in CMB that can grab boards and defend. You also have BI's and IQ's length, with Scottie helping everyone defensively and setting up guys for offense and the opportunity to play in transition.

โ€‹Why do the Raptors consistently put their star player in inopportune situations? Why do we have him guarding bigs? He's tasked with grabbing boards over 7-footers while other's watch and fail to box out. Then you expect him to also help everyone with their defensive mistakes, on top of being tasked to create for others when he has the ball, while also figuring out his offense playing alongside guys who look him off consistently.

โ€‹This team needs a big-bodied big man, a 3-and-D specialist, and another stretch big purely for size and spacing.

  5. Jakobe Walter needs go back to bench heโ€™s not a starter. Gradey Dick should be getting those minutes what he did last season.

  6. RJ, Ochai and Gradey for Jalen smith, Tre jones and patrick williams we get back up big, backup pg and 3nD. Best trade partner for us.
