I'm convinced based on how Cooper has played the last few games that his shoulder injury he suffered earlier this season had been bothering him more than he let on. This would explain some of his hesitance earlier this season to go up on drives and instead kicking out when he got in the paint.

We should NOT TANK. This team doesn’t give up. It’s full of dogs, they have grit, they are great defensively, and being without Kyrie and AD and Lively and still being able to have so many clutch games against the best teams shows how good we are even now because of our defense and depth. And hey, just look at the Pacers. They lost Haliburton and Myles Turner, their 1st and 3rd best players, and look how they are now. The Celtics lost Tatum, Holiday, and Porzingis, their 1st, 4th, and 5th best players, and see how they are.
We haven’t had AD, Kyrie, and Lively, our 1st and 2nd best players, and Lively in the Finals run showed he is arguably our 3rd best player. Now with PJ playing so good and with Flagg and with Lively being out so much time, it’s up for debate what kind of player Lively is, but he is for sure top 5 on the team.
So by looking at the Pacers and Celtics, it isn’t surprising that we have this record. But also look at how many clutch games we’ve played. We could’ve won a bunch of those. Now AD is back, Kyrie is coming back, and we can right the ship with AD and explode with huge wins once Kyrie and Lively are back in the lineup.
This team is legit. Don’t lose faith, fellow Mavs fans. We are still in the playoff hunt. We are not done yet.
And hey, I understand the logic behind tanking this year. I wouldn’t be mad if they do it. But we need to remember that draft picks are not safe bets and players like AD and Kyrie don’t grow on trees. We have AD and Kai who are arguably top 75 players of all time. We have them on the team next to Flagg, Lively, PJ, Christie, Gafford, and others.
We need to maximize this year of these players’ careers, not blow it all up and not trade AD. We can do it. Let’s go get that chip.
Nico gave Flagg the keys. He's part of Nico's vision too. If players can stay healthy, this team is competitive.
I'm still convinced we need to trade AD, Klay and others for draft capital, younger players and salary relief but it can wait awhile.Winning feels kinda good.
