The Defense No One Can Figure Out

The Defense No One Can Figure Out

The OKC Thunder are off to a historic start after winning their first title. We talk about why their defense has been so dominant to start this season and why teams have such a hard time figuring this team out.

  1. they suck without a whistle

    pacers sonned them in playoffs

needed scott foster whistle and an achilles tear to win

  2. A lot of offensive players rely on the way they draw contact to score in many situations, OKC is doing a great job of leading the counter-revolution to that. They are pulling their hands away, pulling the chair out from under players, and anticipating opponents tactics.

  3. For those who played fifa 19, they’re defence is the same as the tactic called “Constant Pressure (pre-nerf)” and park the bus. Its the same thing but in Basketball

  4. The Thunder feel a lot like the 90s Bulls. There's other teams around, but when they step on the court its really them against them. The only way you're getting a dub is if they beat themselves.

  5. Ball movement beats this defense. They just swarm at the ball, and they are not very tall — like the warriors death line-up. 2004 Celtics style of offense — which features dribble to the paint, pass, swing, swing, three will beat this defense.

At this frame 4:13, as Luka passes to Laravia; Ayton need to screen Chet. That's opens two shooters in the right side of the court.

  6. i always been thinking about this maybe to stop modern offense, you just need to put more ball pressure on oppsing defenders and have your hannd up, just like to stop modern offense in football u need a pass rush. too many times i see teams hands down on deense and i think that simple adjustment could make offenses harder

  7. The amount of tipped passes they get from having their arms out is crazy too. Even if they don’t get a steal off the tip it usually results in a poor possession for the offence

  8. Can you do why some teams defense are so bad at times and then at times look good specifically Denver nuggets

  9. 0:43 Idk when you pulled that defensive rating list but it’s pretty off. Denver isn’t even top 15. Also Miami doesn’t even make this list but they have been in the top 5 for most of the season and are currently number 3

  10. they're not great on offense though, shai generates through a good mid-range and insane ft baiting. Refs just swallow half of the calls they should be whistled on

  11. Great coaching IMO. Those guys know where to be and when to be there. It's impressive to watch. Alex Caruso is still one of the most underrated players in the league, on both ends of the floor. Ajay Mitchell was the steal of last years draft.

  12. you know how difficult it is to press on a high rate, because the dribbler can either blow by you or cross you up. So you press when you know no one can dribble. Yes, no one in this weak ass league can dribble. Now we can talk about gambling

  13. I need someone to stop these n*ggas. 😂 I’m not playin. I’m almost fully checked out of the NBA because OKC being so far above other teams makes it less competitive & thus, less entertaining. That’s just my opinion though. Hopefully, with time, I’ll learn to love watching them like I did with Golden State in the 2010s who I initially hated because they were playing too good & destroying my teams year after year. And now I’m the biggest Curry fan. I HATE Shai & OKC right now & will be depressed if they 3-peat. I admit that I’m just a hater but I can’t help it.

  14. When 75% of thunder defensive "highlights" end with a player looking at the refs asking why blatant fouls aren't being called, you do have to wonder why players can't figure it out.

  15. Crazy how more than 50 % of the plays in this video directly involve Cason Wallace.. which is an accurate reflection of his impact.

  16. their defense just comes down to they want it more, too many stars in the league are comfortable, everyone on this team is still hungry for more.

  17. Playing D like this is a no brainer to me but the hard part is getting the entire team to do it 24/7.

  18. Thunder are using analytics and data to understand teams and game plan. Daginault played high school basketball and was a trainer at UConn. Too many times organizations are caught up with a coach’s playing career, as near as I can tell he was a mediocre high school player, but is a great teacher.

  19. Nah, it's just not worth the effort to beat it in the regular season. Reminds me of the 2016 Dubs. Any solutions will be brought out in the playoffs.
