Keyonte George Is Emerging As An NBA Star After Working On His Mental Game

The Jazz beat the Nets 123-110 behind a double-double from Keyonte George, who is quietly emerging as an NBA star.

The third-year guard, whose 8-13 Utah team will not play their first nationally televised game until January, is averaging a career-high 23 points, 22nd in the league.

George, who made headlines a season ago for getting benched, is also averaging a career-high 7 assists, 10th in the NBA.

Keyonte hails from Lewisville, Texas, and played his senior season at IMG Academy before becoming the highest-ranked recruit in Baylor history.

George won Big 12 Freshman of the Year in his one season with the Bears, before the Kings drafted him 16th in 2023.

He improved from 13 to nearly 17 points per game in his first two seasons, but increased his training in 2025 off-season and also began working with the Jazz’s in-house sports psychologist and a professor of performance psychology at BYU.

George’s 44.3% shooting percentage is also the highest of his career.
