The Boston Celtics were a mystery coming into this NBA season after Jayson Tatum tore his achilles against the New York Knicks and they lost Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Jrue Holiday in the offseason. But they’re one of the best teams in the East behind Jaylen Brown playing career basketball, Derrick White, Payton Pritchard, Anfernee Simons, and great role players being elevated by Joe Mazzulla. And, surprisingly, the Celtics feel like they have a real shot in the East if Jayson Tatum returns even though squads like the Knicks, Pistons, Magic, Raptors, and others are hooping.

They are playing great right now because Brown is and always be the leader. Tatum might be slightly better on offensive but JB is our best 2 way player and the most consistent player and the Dude is Carrying this team and they are following his example. Those Brown haters that wanted to trade him and the media gave all the credit to Tatum for winning. Brown just needed the ball more. If Tatum comes back he needs to play off Brown and the others or he will mess up this system.

I still don’t believe JB is ‘clutch’. The eye test says his production built more on effort rather than being pure. I almost want to say scrappy but he deserves a better word.
Jaylen Brown has been this good for years now people haven’t been paying attention.
This season cemeted Jaylen Brown as a true number 1 option and Joe Mazulla as a great coach.
As a celtics fan. I wasnt worried. When i kept hearing celtics fans talk down on this team i felt offended our fans didnt have faith. I looked at the young roster of shooters and simons and i thought we still look good on paper. Im not surprised. ☘️✅

As a lifelong celtics fan i just gonna say this. Tatum gotten the silver spoon to make mistake and develop way earlier. Brown always fighting for his minutes and shots. At one point celtics management tells him stop taking those midrange while tatum continued. Now brown has all the green light to make mistake: his turnovers. He gained confidence he never had never: worry about missing a little tough shots and the coach start putting on corners to do cuts and catch and shoot only.
So throughout their career both can be descript as
Tatum: alot of career/season high but can be inconsistent when it comes to fg%
Brown: not alot of career high in points, but always giving consistent 20+ppg everynight
When you average them out, both of them had similar ppg with different fg%. Brown being more consistent on being efficient and tatum can be insanely explosive when it comes to scoring while having offnights.
Tatum a better at playmaking, chasing rebounds, help defense, explosive scoring but can be inconsistent(those who really watch live games will know)
Brown is better 1on1 defender, boxing out, playing off the ball, consistency scoring but can be passive as hell when during playoffs in second half he will attempt like 2-4 shots max after a fiery start.
Or when tatum went down with injury, pressure in on brown, brown can be clumsy to his new role of being no.1, especially dribbling. Now it seems he has taken up the next time pretty well.
Spending alot of time handling the ball more than ever gaining that confidence to operate heavy minutes with ball in his hands.
Can’t wait if tatum is back.
Celtics made a huge mistake trading away all their core players.
The thing that is just inexplicable is you’ll still hear a lot of people asking for mazulla to be fired and brown to be traded. Most things I can explain, but it feels like they are watching games from an alternate universe

Y’all give Jayson Tatum more credit than he truly deserves. He was literally carried in the 2024 Playoffs by Jaylen Brown and Derrick White themselves. Tatum has been one of the most inefficient playoff performers in recent history. Why should this be surprising? lol.

I think the biggest thing for Boston this year have been the young wings Walsh/Hugo/Minott. They guard 1-5, they’re shooting the ball better than anyone could’ve imagined, they’re ball IQ is high, they do all the little things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. They just offer so much versatility on offense and defense, it gives Joe plenty of options when it comes to what lineups he wants to put on the floor.
Sidenote: I want to see an all-wing lineup of Tatum/Brown/Hugo/Walsh/Minott; they lowkey could be like a taller version of OKC’s all-guard lineup.

the east is much better than ppl think..don't be surprised if the knicks led by cold blooded j brunson upset the team that comes out the west or cades pistons..brunson can match shai blow 4 blow and outplay him in a series..look at atl with jalen johnson playing like an all nba team player winning without t young, toronto has 3 all star caliber wing dudes 6 ft 7 that get u 20 a nite..my sixers with maxey/vj and the bucks even with a healthy top 3 player in giannis might not even make playoffs..the east is very deep!!
