Its not that OKC doesn't need SGA in the 4th… it's that dude is so consistent and DOMINANT 1-3 that the 4th quarter is a triviality. SGA had 17 points by half time – then poured in another 16 in the 3rd. He was on pace to score 44 points (and that's true in pretty much the 11 games where he sat out 4th quarter).
SGA is the straw that stirs the drink. His consistency allows others to shine and not play with any pressure. They're never playing from the back, so everybody stays confident and plays aggressively, not to mention he's basically triple-teamed.
I think you remove SGA and allow teams to game plan for just the others for a couple of games, and they're just an ok team. Not even a great team.
The Thunder are going to be great for decades. The can draft guys and keep them until their rookie contract are up and let them walk. They have that many draft picks. The GM is the best in all sports.
