We have to go after Giannis , as we said before during summer, we’re loaded with guards , I would give up
Vassell, Fox and future 1st round pick.
Spurs do not NEED Giannis, as the team sits we are already a playoff team. I have heard the Bucks inquired about getting both Harper and Castle together, not sperate, and Brian Wright basically said they were both untouchable. At this point, Giannis would need to go the Fox route and explicitly tell the Bucks he wants to be traded to the Spurs so that the Spurs have more leverage in a potential trade, otherwise I do not see it happening.
I'd rather not trade if isn't Giannis for exchange..
No! Nearly everybody we've talked to Jeff has said that we are a playoff team as we are constituted right now we bring him in we blow that up. Not to mention the contract impact on the apron not to mention these 31 years old and he's injured he's out for the rest of December. If we gotta give up our bench and our future for him The answer is no
I think it's more than we should or shouldn't trade for Giannis, it's like we have to make sure Wemby would like to take a short term paycut for like a new contract for only 2 years in a lower pay, and Castle agree only be around 25-30M for a short term, or we won't be able to get Giannis. We're absolutely out of cap. And even we don't have Giannis in hand, Fox's Max, Wemby's Max, we'll also lose Castle if he's asking for over 30s.
So the a more deep question is, if we aren't trading Castle in a package for Giannis and would like to keep the young core, can we really keep all FOX, WEMBY, CASTLE, HARPER at a high salary? No we can't for sure! We have to make sure Castle, Harper is getting a low pay until Fox's expiration (32 yrs old) and Fox agrees to drop his wage significantly after these 4 years, even we have no Giannis in hand. If we want all young big 3 in team, we will someday have to give up Fox unless he agrees to have lower pay than Harper in 2029(2030).
So basically, we do have to make a choice between Fox, Castle, Harper to keep only 2 , even we're without Giannis. But don't forget Fox's agent is Rich Paul.
I am not taking any side on Giannis trade, but the reality might be We have to give up one of the 3 guards, if we get Giannis in return for giving up one, might be a short term and also a long term solution even we know Giannis will decline, he might not ask for a Max after 3 years if so, If he can keep well, then we would still not having the "which guard to keep" headache.
I’m with you we don’t need Giannis cause I don’t wanna give up Castle or Harper. If that’s what they want that’s a no fly. We are good right now. Let them grow into it.
I'll support my team of 38 years either way!
The trade would be Harper and 3 first round picks 2 swaps and 2 second round picks. No Castle no Fox. It would be salary filler with Barnes as the starting point. You have to realize that Wemby is no Duncan. He is fragile. He might not last 8 years far less 10. The window is now. And with the freak you get to extend Wemby by playing him less during the regular season for the next 4 years. Giannis has 3 more years at MVP level and 5 at all NBA level. He will be an all star till his late 30s
Crazy take – trade Victor for Giannis straight up. Keep Harper / Castle / Fox to go with Giannis and the bench along with all the Spurs picks.
Simple answer is no, they don't need to do this. With Giannis comes Giannis drama as well. Who says he wont do this here.
