Miami Heat’s Offense SOLVED by the NBA? — Diving Into the Numbers

Miami Heat drop three straight for the first time this season—have NBA defenses finally cracked Erik Spoelstra’s high-paced offense, or are cold shooting nights and key injuries to Tyler Herro and Norm Powell to blame?

Wes Goldberg spotlights Miami’s sluggish offense against the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and Orlando Magic, exploring how opposing teams have adjusted by packing the paint and getting back in transition. Key issues discussed include the Heat’s surprising lack of efficiency in transition despite leading the league in pace, missed open threes, and the impact of missing reliable shooters. Goldberg also breaks down Miami’s evolving approach versus zone and man defenses, the need for more pick-and-roll sets, and why increased emphasis on corner threes could help. Plus, insight into Tyler Herro’s injury status and what his looming return means for Miami’s strategy in the NBA Cup knockout stage.

  1. Why won’t anyone talk about the fact that this team has 1 center on it like I mean cmon you wanna point out things being figured out you can bet that teams know they can out rebound and score in the paint on Miami because of that 1 fact every single game this is on the front office entirely

  2. Memphis ran the same offense and what did it got them,it's over no more #3 seed and scheme talk, the Heat schedule for the rest of this month and Jan.,the Heat will be in play in land or worse, upgrade the talent,in my opinion, trade Herro and a couple reserves for draft capital to bring in better talent and have cap flexibility to upgrade the roster,Go Heat.

  3. I told y'all that this offense is extremely flawed, case in point, Herro and Powell don't have any chemistry because of injuries and lack of playing time that will continue to be a problem moving forward, they have a lack of size upfront because they don't have a backup center, because of coach Spo's insistance of playing Ware as a backup instead of a starter (Bam can't do it as a starting center) and finally, Mitchell is not the long term solution as the starting PG, they have to give Jakučionis a shot as a PG, alternate both Jaku and Davion at the point and develope them. At the same time, Jovic's confidence is at a all time low, which is expected, Fontecchio has hit a wall, Wiggins and Jaquez might hit that wall soon and Spo has fallen into his old habits again.

So now, what should they do? Going after Giannis? If they do, they will end up regretting it and it will become another Jimmy Butler situation. There is nothing wrong about tanking a season and take a shot at a top 3 pick, especially in this upcoming draft. Trade Herro, Wiggins, Jovic, Fontecchio and Powell too, stack up some draft assets and retool this Heat team with younger, more athletic and versatile talents. If they stay where they are and go the latter route (go after a whale like Giannis and give away the whole farm), they will fail and Pat Riley will retire with a pie on his face.

  4. They miss shots in transition because nobody has enough athleticism to dunk over guys….they get to the rim and miss layups or get shots blocked

  5. Who is the Super Star in this team ? Is not Bam ? 😅 Now some Fans understand me ? Bam never be that guy. He is not a franchise face. He is not Giannis !! That is why is the best option to trade for a true Star.

  6. Spo is an expert frustrating our youth players. We are the only team with our first round pick don’t played one single minute. Always the same thing !! Heat Culture, he is not ready for Heat Culture bla bla bla . 😂😂😂

  7. Worst loss and game last night for Miami. I think not having key players out there last night was too much mentally for a team that looks exhausted coming off back to backs, not to mention having to claw back in both games to Detroit and Dallas, only to lose both games. They need a couple of days to rethink everything.

  8. Can we stop the Bull💩 about Bam finally? He’s a $50 mill role player who can only win when he’s being carried

  9. The smartest players in this league use the free throw line to manage the emotions of both teams. It’s how you slow opponents’ momentum and keep your head above water when other teams are going on runs. It also helps you manage the score while your offense needs to find itself.

It does the opposite when you are missing the free throws. You miss, the other team keeps their juice, and deflates you even further.

We are losing these games largely at the line, and that’s just unacceptable.

  10. They have figured out Spo. Stop making excuses for Spo. How the hell you are going to run when one guy is killing you? The Heat are a defensive team you all keep talking pace and offense. i believe this team is about Ware, Bam, Wiggins and Mitchell. It starts with the defense.

  11. The coming of Tyler is matched up perfectly with the demise of Kelel Ware. Why in 3 of the last 4 gms Ware has played a total of 10 shots; in 66 minutes Ware only taken 10 shots. Spo loves to TEACH Ware a lesson, what lesson no one knows. i REPEAT, "If Spo hated Ware, he wouldn't treat him any worse. But at bigger issue is how unsettling it is to know your team wants to trade you and Tyler for Giannis. Tyler injury is stalling the trade for FAKE INJURY Giannis and Ware is left in limbo, not wanted by his team, highly disliked by his coach. A choach would rather loose than feature Kelel. Trade WARE.

  12. Spo has made Kelel into a very average player and he is glad he won the head-game war. Trade Kelel and he explodes at the star he is; did I say PLEASE TRADE THE SLENDER RIM BENDER, SOONER RATHER THAN LATER DO THE DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. RILEY…is and have been consistent in thinking his teams are good…losing to a throw together team in Sacramento shows you we are trash

  14. I just think spo’s rotations and substitutions are insane and we’re at the point of the season and spo does this every year where he’s just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks because there’s no way a guy like Jovic who doesn’t look like a nba player at the moment should get any run at all at that point play kasparas

  15. So much whining from this fanbase

Did you guys actually think this team was going to be great this year?? It was always going to be a development year with all the young guys in the lineup

You fans are always miserable because you set your expectations too high. Frankly, they have overachieved to this point.

  16. How to fix the offense: Trade for Giannis…on a side note I can't wait until David comes back, listening to just Wes is horrible

  17. This Miami Heat team headed by Bam & Tyler is simply NOT going anywhere. Bam & Tyler are both just C-Star players. The best path forward is to trade Bam & Tyler for Giannis. Remember, this team was already winning even without Bam & Tyler not too long ago. That’s why you heard those “we don’t need Bam, we don’t need Herro”. The team just needs one more backup/solid PF/C for Giannis & Ware.

  18. Dru Smith great defender confused consistently playmaking decisions. Mr Smith needs to remind himself he is not 6’5 He played like a GLeague Guard.

  19. Tyler comes back sure they win a couple of games but the chemistry is in mess. Spo wants play small faced it he is just that stubborn. He making sure Bam and Ware is inefficient so he can play Bam 5 again.

  20. Miami needs a new coach.Spo is one of the problem.Jovic should play as a pg.Why is Spo benching Ware when Herro is in the lineup.Miami needs size. WARE,BAM,POWELL,HERRO AND JOVIC should be Miami's starting lineup.

  21. We just don't have top level offensive talent. People keep up scoring with us even though we lock down because we have disgusting cold streaks and unreliable offensive options. Even in the Jimmy era it was like this. Can't win game if ball no go in bucket.
