The Spurs Should NOT Be THIS Good

The San Antonio Spurs blew out the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Cup to advance to the semifinals and face the Oklahoma City Thunder in Las Vegas continuing the Spurs’ hot streak of elite basketball. They’ve been balling even without Victor Wembanyama with De’Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle, and a great cast of role players balling out and beating some really solid teams along the way. It’s reached a point where it’s not just the future for the Spurs, it’s the now that’s really interesting and they could be a real factor in the NBA Playoffs as soon as this year.

  1. Fox is so good, always one of the more underrated players and one of the best clutch players in the league. He and Wemby are going to be a problem in the playoffs if this team is healthy. I'm not so sure they couldn't handle Houston or even Denver in a series, and I say that as a Rockets fan.

  2. I'm so looking forward to the game against OKC. If we're even within 10 points, that's a huge positive in my book. If we win? OH BOY.
I feel the return of Wemby might throw a spanner in the works though. This team has been flowing amazingly, and such a big presence I fear might take too much space, and lower the other player's efficiency. I'm particularly scared for Harper, who's absolutely elite in the paint, dropping back with Wemby dominating there.
Best case scenario Wemby continues with his guard like drives, and Harper plays second driver with more space when Wemby is double teamed.

  3. Tbh as a spurs fan, I dont want to trade anyone, we solid fr, even if it takes a few years i like our basketball style and depth

  4. a really fun drinking game would be whenever Cone says “go ahead and” you take a shot of tequila. you’re gonna be fucked by the end of the video😭😭😭

  5. Or maybe they should? Spurs fans have been telling y'all and you've been ignoring us. Our backcourt includes a multi-time all-star PG, last year's ROTY who's taken a huge leap already this year, and the #2 overall pick this year who already plays like a veteran. We also have one of the best value players at SF who is a key contributor at only $3m/year. And we picked up Kornet, one of the most efficient centers in the league, for a reasonable contract and didn't have to trade anything away. Which went under the radar as it was one of the best free agency signings in the off-season. I could go on, but needless to say, we told you. Next time y'all should listen.

  6. Mitch Johnson been solid which is great when taking over a legacy of a coach like Pop, if the Spurs can fix third quarters they looking scary

  7. Been a huge fan of Fox, Sacramento is the closest team to me and it was a pleasure watching his game. Love to see him getting his flowers

  8. I've said it before but Lakers are just demonstrating a top heavy roster. Only chance they have to improve is if they trade LeBron or LeBron agrees to a vet minimum so they can sign some depth.

  9. I'm bias as a Warriors fan (so I don't want yall to beat our record 😂). However, ongoing simulations/projections (e.g., TeamRankings) still project a very strong season, but most models put the Thunder around ~68–69 wins, not 73+. Most probable: ~65–70 wins, Optimistic but plausible: ~70–72 wins. Record-breaking extreme outlier: 73+ wins. I still think we're going to hold the record for quite some time.

  10. Even if Wemby manages to play 65 games, he's clearly not the MVP of the league if his team has a BETTER record without him.

  11. What you mean they’re not supposed to be this good ? They get gifted a high “lottery” pick almost every season by the nba .. who knows maybe they wil get Darrynnpeterson next draft

  12. I really hate to say it but they should bench Wenbenyama. I don't think he's a star player & theyre playing much BETTER without him. It's because they're not focused on him. He would be a good bench player

  13. I think Castle's ceiling is higher and will be bona fide All-Star, don't underestimate this dawg
