Why have there been constant stories of trade talks most of which are horrible ideas. I bet all the Wolves players have been hearing about those and it's hurting the team
They aren’t going to get better playing better teams
My one point for why they get something done sooner rather than later lies within the fact that Mike Conley-the only “reliable” point guard on this team- has tendionipathy and is one of those ongoing injuries that don’t go away and is primarily an overuse injury. So with that said Mike isn’t playing anytime soon let alone consistently. The wolves can’t afford to have zero competent pgs who turn the ball over damn near 20 percent of possessions when in the game. The revelation of this injury could be the primary moving factor for the urgency to attain a point guard
I think the Coby White trade is a smoke screen, TC operates in the shadows. He don’t leak anything!!!
They def should, but the problem is you have to give up Randle, Reid, or McDaniels to get him and keep him. The best move is to probably trade Reid for him, which is going to be a tough pill to swallow. And stop staying "oh, they made the conference finals." They got lucky Steph got hurt and they were nowhere close to beating the thunder. They are far off from contending.
I will say…
Of the trade candidates out there, this one seems by far the best target to me.
Ja (injuries, cost, decline, and can't space the floor, so not looking like a match with Gobert at all). Highest proven ceiling, CAN play D it seems when engaged.
Lamelo… kinda the same (a bit better shot, but not nearly the ceiling Ja has shown). Not a defender (active but lost) and youth is nice.
Trae (at least he's mostly healthy, but worse D and the same issues, cost, decline, shooting)
Three guys with career 50% effective FG% which is really poor and all take volume numbers of shots. And almost all the trade idea's for them involve weakening the frontcourt, which needs all the help it can get defensively when Gobert isn't out there.
Coby White can shoot a bit… around league average from 3, 53% efg, been pretty healthy, in his age 25 season… upswing to his game the last few years… Contract that doesn't need a massive move for financially at least. There's the fact that he'll be seeking a big deal (rightly so) next year, which has to factor in. But DDV is coming off his cap friendly deal after this season too…
As for the MC/Shannon/2nd… I really have to say that I don't see why Chicago wants that one. If that's it, sure Shannon and his 4-5 ppg and hustle/nice size for a year beyond this one and a 2nd round pick is something I guess, but I'd be surprised if someone isn't throwing out a 1st there or solid player (Reed Sheppard for example has been mentioned who's a MUCH better pickup I'd say and locked in on a friendly contract)

Bulls don't need more guards. But Coby is a realistic option for the Wolves.
I've been watching for a while as a non native Minnesota fan, I'm curious why it is that we are trying to force a PG that plays the Ricky Rubio role? Why can't be have a good drive n kick guard that will add some creation in the non edwards minutes. I feel like we are trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
Personally I think finches stubbornness is the larger issue

They know they have no chance without a point guard ! The Thunder and Denver These other teams are to good in the western conference.
