They’re a 50+ win regular season team whose playoff success will depend on hot shooting. Their lack of defense makes them very vulnerable if shots aren’t falling.
They are a scary team, if Luka gets hot and Shai is Shai and is streaky in a playoff situation, Lakers can beat them in the playoffs.

Luka for all of his greatness will end up being white James harden. He shoots 25 shots to get 30 and the rest of the lakers kinda just stand around unless they’re hot. Reaves doesn’t get as much touches from game to game so the idea of them outscoring teams won’t be as effective.
Look, we know they have no defense in the 3 names, they have "lenth" , but no strength (girth?) outside of Luka. They get spanked in 5 by most gpod teams in the West.
They could win next year if they have, I ono, 52 (+2) million more to spend on their squad. 🙃
in online game terms. They're a pub team. They play solo carry picks that win or lose you the game. They're playing a very off-meta comp, but their carries are good enough that it's skewing their results. At the end of the day they're gonna lose to teams who have the same-ish level of players, but playing better comps/playing to the meta.

We become a worse team in every metric offensively and defensively with LeBron on the floor. Without him they’re not a championship team because no one is beating the Thunder but they’re so much better without LeBron. He plays no defense and is the only net negative player on the entire team. EVERY PLAYER on the Lakers dating back to last season is better offensively AND defensively by a wide margin with LeBron not out there. Nothing is gonna get better for the Lakers until he’s gone after this season. Rich Paul making those comments lately was just icing on the cake for how petty they are that they can’t run the Lakers anymore. This is coming from a die hard Lakers fan too. LeBron not only makes the team worse on the floor but off the floor what a complete cancer.
Defense is atrocious
Has a chance of beating a team like Denver in a 7 game series. But like almost every other team, has no chance at the championship without an OKC implosion

The Lakers are a good team regular season team. The unbalanced starting lineup and lack of bench depth holds them back from being true contenders.
The Lakers are not going to be even an average defense if their gameplan continues to be Austin Reaves guarding at the point of attack and starting Rui Hachimura.
With Rui on the floor, the Lakers shot quality gets worse, they turn the ball over more and they grab less rebounds. In the short term, if Marcus Smart is healthy he should be the 5th starter. Long term, they need to go out and acquire a true defensive SF to allow the other players to slot into more natural roles.
Pretender. Luka is cool but the defense sucks and Austin Reaves is the most obvious playoff dropper in existence.

Theres a reason why thunder got pushed to game 7 so often. They will not have an easy rode. Playoffs always shows that.

SGA 100% gets some flag for the foulbaiting due to his race(which i take that rusty implied), however, he is also the best player on the best team, and he will get more criticism, because he gets more attention – also, he is currently a better player than luka. When luka was grifting his way to the line, shai went reasonably unnoticed doing the same thing a couple of years ago. I also think shai pulling faces looks worse to most people, but he just seems like he is an extremely expressive guy, watch him on the bench, or the recent clip where he watches chet get checked by (i think) grayson allen. Last thing is that the nba did a bad job setting him up for superstardom by not gradually increasing attention on his rise, and people react badly by just having him seemingly appear out of nowhere, since 1: okc is a small market 2: most fans barely watch any nba games.

What evidence do you have saying that they have a good coach? Not good enough to get them to Las Vegas like the last coach–that everyone said was terrible.

Yeah. But it’s unlikely. Like I’d say the Thunder is 85-90% (if not higher) to win against any of those teams in a 7 game series.

They are not good and I’m a lakers fan. As a fan ik people love the whole Luka and AR combo but whenever we plan athletic guards AR show his playoff form. I honestly think they should move him and rui for some young athletic players like Trey and herb from the pelicans
