A 2nd Quarter FROM HELL ruins the Toronto Raptors NBA Cups hopes | Jakob Poeltl’s in rough shape

The Toronto Raptors lost to the New York Knicks, 117-101 in the NBA Cup Quarterfinals on Tuesday night, thanks in large part to a miserable second quarter. In Episode 2000 (what) of the show, Sean Woodley goes solo to react to the loss, break down what went wrong in the 34-13 second frame, and discuss the encouraging things the Raptors did find that worked as the game progressed. It all started off so brilliantly with Brandon Ingram’s 17 first quarter points helping stake the Raps to a 39-35 first quarter lead. But as the offense reverted back to December 2024 form without Immanuel Quickley, and the steam train that is the Knicks offense got cooking, the Raptors lost touch in the second quarter. It didn’t help that Jakob Poeltl played one of the worst games of his life, Gradey Dick was a total non-factor, and that Darko Rajakovic only had 5 or 6 guys to reliably lean on. But there was some good stuff from the likes of Jamal Shead, Ja’Kobe Walter and Collin Murray-Boyles in particular. Sean also runs through The Good (the chance to rest), The Bad (Scottie Barnes’ worst game of the year) and The Hmmm (Anthony Davis??) to round out the show.

  1. The general reactions to this loss has been kinda weird to me cuz there's no way people realistically thought the stumbling, unhealthy raptors could best the peaking, almost fully healthy Knicks lol.

  2. The bum Knicks aside; This was a disaster class of a game. That q2 made it impossible to come back due lack of effort! Gradey is a net zero nba player. Light at the end of the tunnel knicks will fizzle out due to how much they rely on their starters.

  3. 2Q was bad terrible of Darko line up w/ SB + bench. Look at the guys who were out there with him? There was no other plus defender & all the guys except Mamu were 2 ways with Gradey a shell of himself. Both he and Mamu refused to shoot open 3's & NY Knicks just zoned up or crowded SB on his drives & post ups. I can't believe he did not attempt a ft b/c it was clear he was fouled on some of his drives but no call.

  4. Wake up, did people actually think the NBA spinners want the Toronto Raptors to be showcased? The Knicks are a stronger draw. A way would've been found for them to win. It's a GAME, with gambling, drama and made-up drama. A sport soap opera.
