Honestly if im a pels fan. I want picks rather then a disgruntled Star. As these upcoming drafts until 2030 seem kinda loaded ngl. They could be a good rebuilding team and maybe make something happen during the 2030s when OKCs super roster finally wants their money and leave the team.

On paper, this is a pretty decent roster. The question is for ownership…..WTF is the plan for this team. Building around Zion is a dead mission and the team is in a worst position than ever. Poole and Dejounte petty much are both combo guards. Fire sale….try to trade Zion, Dejounte and/or Poole, Herb or Trey (I would try to hold on to one of these 2).

The Pelicans ownership sucks, the owner is a widow who has no idea what she's doing, she owns the Saints too. She's running both teams into the ground. I feel bad for New Orleans sports fans.

As a pels fan this season has been literally the worse than I could have imagined. Look queen is starting to look like a true building block for our team sure but man giving up a top 5 pick is going to hurt especially after suffering through this season 😭 And the Zion thing every year I’m just so over it. Like even though we wouldn’t get much in return I just want to be done with him man, like it’s just every freaking year this false hope every time

In my opinion the best plan for pelicans is to build around a core trio of Fears, Queen, and Trey. I would keep matkovic and missi as they offer solid big man depth. Now when it comes to zion the ideal situation is to get into a 3 way trade with bucks and some other team that wants giannis. We can send zion along with the 2027 most favorable back to the bucks and get our 2026 1st back. Then I would shop herb, jordan poole, hawkins, bey, and maybe dejounte (if anyone wants him). Get as many picks as you can and look to build around your core young trio. I would look to draft a defensive player with offensive upside in 2026 who can play 2 or 3 and have them as a piece to replace herb. After that you really just need to see what happens. If we cant get zion to bucks to get their first then I would shop him for picks if you can. If not try and grab a solid defender or spacer to build that much needed side of ball. Im very hopeful for the future. Fears and Queen are giving us fans hope and something to look forward to and with the ride support they can get us back to the playoffs.

Pels aren’t moving until Ms Gayle passes away. She’s been super adamant about that. At the same time, she’s also said that when she’s gone both the Pels and the Saints are being put up for sale, to go to whoever the highest bidder is, w the sale prices going back into the New Orleans community. Together they might yield what, $10B? We know the Saints arent moving, but yeah, the Pels might. The only thing is the league wants expansion teams in both Seattle & Las Vegas. So if they do move the team… where to? But yeah, the Pels aren’t leaving New Orleans anytime soon. Ms Benson is a lot of things, but one of them is a woman of her word. This is a strong-willed, unyielding person, for better or worse. That’s been well-established, esp since Tom Benson passed away.
derik queen is great and even if that pick falls to the lowest it can its still management malpractice to trade a unprotected pick on a bad team for the 13th pick

You have to be dumm to trade trey Murphy
as someone who is watching pelicans games despite losses; zion has no motor. either he wants out and plays ass to make a point or he simply lost the fat that fueled him. his numbers look fine but eye test he has no gravity nor does he have the finesse around the rim.

As a Pelicans fans I have little faith in Joe Dumars. It didn’t take a genius to foresee that this team as constructed this year wasn’t built for success. So trading that pick was idiotic. Queen and Fears have been fun to watch. Though the Pelicans could have just kept the 23rd pick and ended up with Wolf who would have been a better short term fit alongside Zion with his shooting, and then the Pelicans could have still had their high lottery pick next year. I do have faith in a core of Queen, Fears, Murphy, and Jones. If Dumars trades Murphy or Jones, then I’m done with this team until Dumars is fired. Jones is on such a team friendly contract what are they going to get back that’s better? Murphy fits alongside Queen so well. It makes zero sense to trade him either. The Pelicans will still get the Hawks pick. They should try to draft somebody like Juke Harris who would fit nicely with this team. I disagree that it’s time for a full on rebuild.
Zion, Murray, and Poole should be the players they try and move, not Herb or Murphy, but I have no faith in Dumars making logical decisions.
Let Zion go home to the Carolinas. Charlotte can finally relieve themselves of Bridges and Grant for filler. Ball and Zion when healthy can be a fun combo with Miller manning the middle and Kon dropping 3's. I'd actually be intrigued by Hornets ball if that happened. Again, assuming good health
This team isn't old enough to blow it up, some pieces need to be moved but blowing it up sounds extreme. Jones and Murphy not being shopped, you hear their names in rumors because other teams those players can help them. Zion doesn't have a guarantee in his contract, they can waive him in the off-season if they dont get a deal they want, they don't have to take a bad deal on him
Pelicans took Fears 6th cause they knew Nets would take him next, Atlanta would’ve picked Queen and only way they gave up that pick was if the pelicans swap was included. So Pelicans took the risk cause they believed in Queen. Am I the only one who doesn’t think this trade wasn’t as crazy as it seems. You gotta take in consideration this was a draft day trade not many options
