The Cavs Need To Make A Change…

The Cavs have been the most disappointing team in the Eastern Conference this season, and it might be time to make a change and consider a Darius Garland trade or Evan Mobley trade.

  1. They should have traded Garland right after they got Mitchell and build around him. Also firing bickerstaff was a huge mistake

  2. OKC might be the solution to the Cavs problem. They are about to be in CAP trouble and have a glut of amazing defenders they will need to move 1 of in the 2026 off-season. Garland to Nets, Mann and one of Dort/Caruso (depending on if Dort sign's a team friendly extension) to Cleveland plus 2 1sts (Knicks 27 and the worst of HOU/Suns/Mavs 2029), and the 2028 Philly pick to OKC.

  3. Jarett Allen for Draymond Green – both teams need to make a move or end up with a disappointing season.

  4. Last year they were so dominant in the regular season only to suffer a humiliating loss early in the playoffs. I think that destroyed their confidence.

  5. Kings want to tank. Trade Garland and Bryant for Sabonis. Go back to a 3 big lineup. More inside strength is necessary to compete with the top teams, especially Spurs and Thunder. Big trade within division is unlikely.

  6. The story all comes down to this: last year they were one of the greatest 3pt shooting teams of all time until around March. Now they have like 9 guys shooting under 30%. I don’t expect them to be a bottom 3 team in the league at 3P% at the end of the year but we’ll see. If the shooting doesn’t change this is a play in team

  7. It could all be one trade. What matters is your apron after the trade, not before.

But you would have to sed $76M + the min time however many more players you need to take in.

  8. IMO the major reason for the Cavs’ downfall this season is because of the one trade they made last offseason. Lonzo Ball’s lack of consistency and basically forgetting how to play basketball is causing the huge struggles of the Cavs. IMO the Cavs should trade Lonzo Ball for a healthier, elite, win-now player.

  9. One of Darius or Jarrett gotta go. Probably Jarrett but You're right Not a lot of teams that both need a center and our willing to give up what the Cavs want. But I think they're afraid of trading Darius, Just cuz he could leave and be a perennial All-Star

  10. A Giannis trade to the Cavs is tough, but possible. I don't think it makes any less sense than staying in the 2nd apron with this roster.

  11. Allen to Indy for Matherin and Jackson is a pretty simple one that makes sense for both sides. Indy wants a rim running center for when Hali gets back next year. Allen does that and is on a solid deal going forward. Matherin gives the Cavs more athleticism on the wing and Jackson gives them a viable backup center after they move Mobley to the 5.

  12. Garland to the Suns for Green and a pick makes some sense, even if you’re rerouting Green somewhere else. Shakes up the roster, puts the ball back in Donovan’s hands more but Green is still a viable second creator

  13. The Mobley-Allen experiment is a failure, as well as Garland-Mitchell. Mitchell needs a bigger guard beside him in the backcourt, who can do workmanlike things like play defense on the main guard scoring threat and handle playmaking so he can play off-ball. While it is in vogue to have a power forward with range, I think the verdict is in – Mobley isn't that guy. Or, let's turn it over and trade Mitchell.

  14. The Cavs no longer have creators just connectors. That’s the issue with injuries. Ty Jerome and Levert could beat people on drive and kicks after already having mismatches from Garland and Mitchell. This created a drive and kicks high passing offense. Now they have Lonzo who can’t beat players off the dribble. CPJ same issue. These are good if the core 4 are healthy but they haven’t been all year.

Yes, they need to make a move. Especially since Garland doesn’t look like he can ever be the same.

  15. I’d trade Mobley in a heartbeat for Giannas. We will never win another championship thinking Mobley has to be our best player. I don’t know why the Cavs are putting that pressure on him because that’s just not him. Mitchell and Giannis together would make us favorites in the east for sure.

  16. All the things you said are true, but the biggest problem has been Darius Garland being out and playing poorly while he has been on the floor so far working himself back in to form.

Garland has been a pretty big negative on the court while working his way back and that has cost them some wins as well.

  17. Allen is probably the guy that gets moved, you could get some good players in exchange. The question is do the cavs move additional players to try and cut cost (they are 22.5 mill into the 2nd apron)
