People forget okc didnt draft shai and had like 10 first round pics in a 4 year span youre not getting that for ad or kyrie…. and tanking dont build championship teams they only build losing culture okc didnt tank to build their team they just was trash same with the spurs all the teams that tank for draft picks are still tanking 5-10 years later… we are speaking on the mavs as a play-in team now because the start of this season full of injuries next year if healthy they are a favorite okc cant and wont keep that roster forever just because the salary cap
Woman Nico made a good decision to get RID of Fat LD stop the BS – he should NOT have been fired for saving their azzzes over 365 million on a lazy azzz player. Yes, they should trade AD. With his extension looming the longer they wait the less value they can get for him. Good Eastern teams who think he may be the piece to get them to the Finals are going to give the best bids the Mavs would ever see for AD as long as they do it before the trade deadline. The 2017 Mavs went 33-49, they had a stretch winning 6 out of 7 including some against good teams. They shouldn't overreact to a couple of wins

I really hate these takes. But here is what I find interesting. The message being sent is thatbthe team does not value Anthony Davis or Klay Thompson.
Ironically, Kyrie is more injury prone that AD by far and he doesnt get the same disrespect but that is another story.
The idea of purposely losing is so unpalatable to me. I understand it (but still dislike it) where playoffs are mathematically impossible. But purposely sabotaging your team as early as December on the off chance that the you get the next future "generational talent"? I cant stomach it.

It's too late to start the OKC and Spurs model. Mavs aren't going to start being bad to get 1st round picks. Mavs have too much talent on the team to tank and there are 8 teams worse then them so chances they can get one of the top 5 players is slim. They were lucky last year. If you trade AD it's more about getting out of second apron. The teams that will trade for him will not get you a high 1st round pick or a young talent.
His take on Kyrie needing a 1A is spot on. Luca and Kyrie Irving my favorite two players so I was pissed when they traded Luca. Kyrie always gets hurt when he is the only option. He has a talent of a 1A but not the size. With Luca gone he was the only person that could create their own offense. I was still wait till the off-season to trade AD. See what you have first. But ultimately I would trade him for a role player, an expiring contract and a couple first rounders

Mavs beat Clips,heat, nuggets, and rockets lost to okc(best team rn) but most of those L’s were close games the Mavs were figuring roles out now they have found roles and are playing great and good defense. Cooper is developing in front of our eyes. I hope the Mavs don’t make any decisions till the end of the season ride it out. We don’t fold. Gaff, lively, and ky are still out. Don’t give up on this team. #MFFL

Unpopular opinion, but we should keep AD, Trade Gafford & Lively, and build our core around AD & Flagg.
AD, Klay, Martin and DLo are not part of my vision for the future of the Mavs. They are more like Nico's legacy, which is difficult to get rid of. DLo and Martin could perhaps help with tanking, but AD is more likely to get injured again sooner rather than later, and Klay isn't getting any younger, so it might be better to try to promote Miles Kelly from the second string or get QGrimes back from Philly.
If you don’t think the #1 pick wasn’t involved with that trade you’re naive. We’ve already seen this happen twice between since 2012. CP3 to clippers, hornets move up to #1 get AD. 2019 AD gets traded to lakers. Next year pelicans move up to #1 to get Zion. Flagg, AD, Christie and a 1st in 2029 is reasonable return for Luka. But NBA can’t admit they rigged the draft to get a superstar to the lakers.

The wins aren’t impressive…? Can we talk about the lakers schedule then. They had a win streak against TERRIBLE teams but are looked as an impressive team now, WHEN they actually aren’t.
Ya'll are talking as if the Mavs don't plan to do anything while you have no idea what they are really planning. Rushing to move AD while he was injured was not a smart move. Nico left the Mavs in a very difficult position, but give leadership time to measure the market, evaluate options, and execute on a plan and don't pretend that they are just sitting there twiddling their thumbs. Contenders are built over time, not in a matter of weeks and not by jumping at the first thing that presents itself. Nobody in Dallas is pretending that they are a contenders because of five games.
I think you have to play to win, to get as much value as possible from AD and potentially Gafford and Klay….but i would make the trades for the future. Keep coop, lively, as foundations. Nemhard, williams, marshall, christie…are support for the moment. PJ is a good piece to play with the core and brings some vet edge. The question for coop will be is he going to be the Alpha like Luka and it all goes thru him, or is he a Klay, or Pippen type that needs another primary scorer to lead. He can go either way. His personality to me seems more inclined for a pippen, role. Great , but not the #1

You media types really need to stop slurping Luka. As a life-long Dallas Mavericks fan, the return (one draft pick?!) for Doncic was beyond poor. However, I have LESS THAN ZERO issue with trading a whiny, uncoachable (inexcusable amount of technical fouls every season), ball dominant, out-of-shape, poor defender who refuses to take even one summer off from international basketball. Good riddance, and he won't win 💩 in Los Angeles, either!
That owner is not about winning. He's power tripping. That's why Luka got traded. We all heard his voice on tape. He didnt want to pay Luka. He's probably not going to want to pay AD.
