On the road to their first NBA Championship, the HEAT faced off against the team that had closed the door on them in the Easter Conference Finals just a year before. The Detroit Pistons, with the top regular season record in the NBA, were also hungry to get back to the NBA Finals for a chance at their second title in three years.

Dwyane Wade went supernova in the series as a scorer but shifted into ‘facilitator mode’ for SHAQ and Jayson Williams in Game 6 with a game-high 10 assists to go with 14 points and four rebounds.

Meanwhile, SHAQ and Williams combined for 49 points on 22-26 shooting – a blistering 84 FG% – to clinch the series and stamp their tickets for the franchise’s first ever Finals berth.
