The trade was of course rigged. NBA promised to give them Flagg if they sent Luka to LA.
The path forward is clear. Trade AD and clear the runway for Flagg hopefully losing a lot of games in the process so they can use the only pick they control for the next 5 years on getting him a legit running mate that matches his timeline.

It's not easy to build a championship team. Even the C's with Tatum and Brown, it took years of playoff failures. With Flagg, all the Mavs can do is to sorround him with young top talent. I agree that he needs 1 or 2 all-stars with him, elite PG or SG. PG could have been Brunson. SG could have been Doncic. Mavs organisation are notorious for this. Look at Steve Nash, winning an MVP in the Suns. Unless you're Mavs fan, no one cares about them. Flagg maybe doing it solo for awhile like Booker in the Suns. Cade got a Jalen Duren now with the Pistons and he's on a good trajectory.
How about this? AD to pelicans for Zion and some picks.

5:44 Flagg is not a 3 level scorer yet. His 3 ball is horrible, so pairing him with another poor 3pt shooter is not good. Flagg will get better, but he’s not that yet
There will be no “sweepstakes” like we knew of in recent time These players need to go bac to the olden days and FINISH THEIR CONTRACT, THEN make a power move by signing with who you wish. This way the team you want doesn’t have to gut their roster to get you and then you’re miserable because they can’t build around you with your salary 🤦🏾♂️
