The Rockets Have a MASSIVE Problem

The Houston Rockets have now lost three overtime games in a row to the Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings, and New Orleans Pelicans. Kevin Durant, Alperen Sengun, and Amen Thompson haven’t been able to get the job done and its brought up concerns about their clutch play and their ability to get it done in big moments. They have hopes of being a championship contender in the NBA but if their clutch basketball looks like this, that seems unlikely.

  1. Its all on Ime Udoka, he should thik over how to create good attack patterns. What can players do when they receive the final ball in a rather weird places.

  2. The thing that continues to haunt KD is every team he goes to, to be a solution never works out. They literally brought him in to solve they’re problem to close games compared to last year and it looks like it’s worse than last year.

  3. The problem is Sengun.
He is single speed offensively and pretty much a non moving cone defensively.
That guy has been so hyped up but at the end of the day he is very limited.

  4. Can you imagine how good we would be if we had a fast guard that can attack the basket and if we had a good team defender and a pick in the top 10 how much that would help. One can dream

  5. Cone is like the opposite of the Synthetic Sports curse.. whatever cone says is gonna happen it happens immediately whatever synthetic says is gonna happen the opposite happens 😂

  6. Alpie playing his heart out and still getting hate… 😅

It’s KD… He needs to be a leader and he isn’t. Hating on a 23 year old is wild ngl 😅

  7. Ime benches Sengun every time. Sengun can't get into the game. Look at the players' playing time. Sengun's time is gradually decreasing. Whenever the team is struggling, they bring Sengun into the game as a savior. If Ime trusts KD so much, why doesn't he want him to take responsibility? When everything goes wrong, Sengun becomes the scapegoat. Sengun is an ALLSTAR; everyone will respect him. Even KD.

  8. K.D about to start his whining , complaining and showcasing his negative energy/ attitude. It was only a matter of time.Team chemistry will be low. No leadership on team.

  9. The worst thing about this is that if FV returns next year he's probably going to regress because of the injury and you don't know how much he will last without another small to big injury, KD is probably going to regress and you must hope Segun and Amad keep getting better.

  10. Reed has been a better player in HS, NCAA, and so far this year (compared to last year) than FVV. It’s a reason he was a #3 pick while FVV went undrafted. The Rockets get great looks all game and have a top 5 offense, so they don’t have a PG problem. The issue this year, like the last 2 years has been Ime’s lack of trust in young players (Alpi/Bari/Cam/JG) in previous seasons and (Reed) this year. Plus, his lack of offensive creativity.

  11. Anyone who says FVV matters that much hasn't watched him play the last two years. Last season he hurt them more than helped them. He has the same weaknesses as reed, except reed is a much better shooter. They are missing green and brooks much more than they are missing FVV.
Their biggest problem is udoka is an awful coach offensively.

  12. i am not trying to justify rockets, a title contender, losing to the two worst teams in the conference; however the pelicans have been on an upwards spike after their abysmal start and the kings game, well i don't really have an excuse for that. i think this is just a stretch kinda like the start of the season. after they lost to the thunder in double overtime on opening night, they were kinda fed up and lost their next game as well (it was to the pistons, but still).

i do believe that this team REALLY needs fred vanvleet, not just because they need a point guard but also because they need a leader. in an interview in summer, alperen talked about how fred is kinda like an on-court coach at some points. he was holding the young guys accountable, pointing out their mistakes etc. they really need someone like him, that will make the best decisions in game and make everyone else better as well. the whole "if this team relies on fred vanvleet, they were never a contender" talk is stupid. he is possibly their most important player.

i saw someone point out something about the timberwolves in the comments of a rusty buckets video. they said "wolves are turning the ball over in the clutch but their clutch efficiency is actually good and they are a point guard away from being a contender". i think the same goes for the rockets; but since their stars aren't guards like the wolves, their clutch efficiency isn't all that great either. kd is always gonna create his own shot, but i believe alpi could really use a point guard setting him up.

  13. An Udoka coached team struggling in the clutch and with keeping their foot on the gas when they go up 15+? Where have I seen this movie before as a Celtics fan? The more things change the more they also stay the same, I suppose.
