Four Wins Change Everything? Should the Hawks Trade the Pick?
On Chuck & Chernoff, hosted by Chuck Oliver with Heath Cline filling in for Matt Chernoff, the conversation centers on recent comments made by Bill Simmons regarding the Atlanta Hawks’ draft assets. Simmons argued on his podcast that the Hawks should consider trading the New Orleans Pelicans draft pick they control—currently viewed as a potential top-three selection—suggesting its value could decline as the Pelicans build momentum. He cited New Orleans’ four-game winning streak and improving health as reasons the pick may not remain near the top of the draft order by season’s end.
Oliver and Cline strongly disagreed, contending that despite the recent surge, the Pelicans are still likely to finish near the bottom of the league. They maintained that the pick remains highly valuable due to New Orleans’ broader roster uncertainty and continued likelihood of landing in the draft lottery.
The discussion also highlighted the emergence of Jalen Johnson, with the hosts noting his continued development and growing impact as a cornerstone player for the Hawks, reinforcing optimism around Atlanta’s present and future outlook.

Bill Simmons is an idiot! The Pelicans are not making the playoffs. In fact, they will move some players at the deadline most likely. You don't necessarily have to have the top three worst records to move up in the lottery.
Bill Simmons is a moron I hate when he speaks on Atlanta sports
