OKC Thunder Pummeled AGAIN by Spurs | Worrisome Trends

OKC Thunder Pummeled AGAIN by Spurs | Worrisome Trends

Oklahoma City Thunder outmatched by San Antonio Spurs—have worrisome postseason trends begun to surface? Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams struggle as Victor Wembanyama disrupts OKC’s ofense, raising tough questions about the Thunder’s lack of physicality, inconsistent co-stars, and streaky three-point shooting. Can Mark Daigneault find answers to the Spurs’ relentless size and speed, especially when OKC’s usual transition game is shut down?

Rylan Stiles highlights how the Spurs have limited two of Oklahoma City’s biggest strengths—forcing turnovers and elite perimeter defense—while amplifying their half-court offensive issues. Discussion includes the impact of injury concerns for Holmgren and Williams, the role of secondary scorers, and why San Antonio’s blueprint may be hard for the rest of the NBA to copy. Upcoming rematch and the evolving contender list in the Western Conference get a spotlight. Is OKC still built for championship success, or does San Antonio signal a growing threat?

  1. I’m a long time Spurs fan. I’ve enjoyed watching your videos. Good level-headed evaluation.

    Keep it up man! 😎💪🏼

  2. OKC got exposed…Spurs are bigger…faster…stronger…Holmgren sure does disappear when confronted with Wemby…and …why doesn't he ever GUARD Wemby? OKC defense was shredded because they have no answer for Spur's bigger, stronger, faster guards…OKC offense was torn apart by better perimeter players and of course Wemby. OKC's big men are simply INFERIOR to Wemby and Korne,t. Chet is NOT CLOSE TO WEMBY…🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  3. As a Spurs fan the only team I’m worried bout is the Nuggets or the Warriors. They have 2 Top 10 who have ever played.

  4. Did the Thunder make a mistake by not signing Cam Johnson or some other CONSISTENT 3 pt shooter in the off-season? If yes, do you think a similar acquisition is necessary/possible at the trade deadline?

  5. The only teams who have a combination of the size and defense of San Antonio are the Rockets and Timberwolves. Nuggets could beat them due to offense. But other teams cant really replicate what San Antonio does. Spurs have 3 guards 2 of them jumbo size who matchup well with SGA. And an all world defensive talent in Wemby. The only team to truly come close to that are the Wolves.

  6. Let me preface:

2023 OKC had no answer for Dallas 2 bigs.

Well we did… passing. When we relentlessly passed exposing deep threat it freed up the paint and OKC won games 1,4 w/ game 6 coming down to wire.

2024 we got IHart and solved that problem.

    Fast forward to 2025…

Game 1 vs Spurs Wemby came off the bench and shocked the Thunder who had no answer.

At that moment I said 2bigs…

IHart/Carlson guard Wemby anytime he is in w/ Chet or def. Spec helping out w/ double team.

Break his rhythm and force San Antonio to rely on other players to come up big.

That all being said OKC has shot/played horribly in all 3 losses as well as the loss to Minnesota.

OKC will bounce back to win game 4-5 against the spurs plus win potential playoff series 100%

  7. French Spurs fan here, i like your analysis, you are eloquent, unbiased and you have good understanding of the game 👍🏾

  8. Another Spurs fan here, you're absolutely right about the "the season doesn't end right now" assessment. These 3 wins have been great for us, in the moment, but I'm taking the long view on it. Lots left to see, especially when it comes to playoff ball. We have the talent, but you guys (and Denver, and even GSW and Houston) have the post season experience. SAS might need a run in April and May to takeaway some lessons before contention in earnest can begin.

That's how I'm approaching it anyways.

  9. What OKC lacks are elite players above 6'8 other than Chet. That is why the other Texan teams play them well. They have the size and length.

  10. I think this is a good thing for OKC. They are discovering their weaknesses now, and there are so few teams that can truly compete with OKC, that playing the Spurs so many times in such a short period this early in the season shines a light on what OKC needs to work on. It definitely sucks. Of course we want to see our team win and dominate, but like Shai said, they need time to watch and process the Spurs games so they know what to work on and can get better. OKC is clearly not happy or satisfied with these losses, so we know they will not be complacent. They will find a way to get better. I think what has made it extra hard on the fans is the “all or nothing” narrative that OKC is either “ruining the NBA because they are too great” or that OKC is “total garbage just playing an easy schedule until the Spurs.” I don’t believe either extreme. OKC is a great team with very talented players and coaches/front office. They are much better than many teams, but they are more on par with a few of the other great teams. It just means lots of competition and opportunities to learn and grow. It’s also a good time for us as fans to remember that nothing is guaranteed and winning a championship is monumentally difficult. There’s still plenty of time in this season, and hopefully OKC will prevail. They have the talent and the ethos to win another championship. They’ll just need to make some corrections and continue to work on their shooting to win against the other great teams in the league. They definitely can do it if all goes well.

  11. Spurs are getting way better shots than thunder. When wemby is in the paint is a no go zone for okc, while San Antonio gets dunks and wide open 3’S
