This is likely a mixed bag of good(Mo signing), and bad(Jak likely out a longer time).
So the team will still only have 1 big. Still better than 0.

If he can’t make it here he can’t make it anywhere because we literally need him to just grab boards and add any kind of rim protections like we needed Bismack to do and he went crazy here and then we couldn’t afford him.

Maybe the Rapture culture will rub off on Mo Bamba and he will take this year to improve under the Raptors coaching given a second or third chance in the NBA. The guys on the roster will certainly encourage him ! All he has to bring is a good attitude and a willingness to stay focussed and WORK. And this won't break the bank !

Finally a backup 7 ft center. 7 ft 10 inch wingspan. Has shown the ability to shoot the 3 ball at times. Can rebound. Yes we been waiting for this type of signing for 5 years. Took Webster too long to make this move but finally he did it. Someone must have forced him or threatened to fire him if he continued to neglect this need.

Yo how many years since we had a legit rim protecting athletic center? I was honestly about to call it quits on this organization with their lack of vision and now am elated with this news.

He was putting up numbers in the G league but what I think led us to signing him instead of going after a guy like Nick Richards is how well he played doing the G League showcase which we were obviously in and that allowed us to have a good look at him. He grabbed almost 20 rebounds and put up close to 20 points in the G League show case semifinals. You can bet Bobby and other GM’s were watching that showcase. With the numbers he was putting up in the G League he had to have other interest around league. He likely signed here knowing he can get starting minutes at times.
Mo Bomba ain’t it tho. He was sooooo lazy on the lakers. There’s a reason why LeGM didnt want him back.
Scottie gave himself a taste of next level play….he seemed really happy about it after the game,….lets hope Jacob does not need surgery if so the center problem is the same

If back surgery is needed for Poeltl then he can be out until next season. In the mean time, the Raptors can try out Bamba and still have the opportunity to trade Ochai and Gradey at the deadline for another back up Center and get under the tax. They need big guys that can rebound, protect the rim and pass to the team's main offensive threats. Shooting really is a bonus.
