Toronto Raptors Sign Mo Bamba To A Deal
Mo Bamba has agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Toronto Raptors, adding frontcourt depth as the team navigates a tight financial picture. Prior to the signing, Toronto was $772K over the luxury tax and just $911K below the first apron, with $6 million in unlikely bonuses counting toward the apron. The Raptors are still permitted to exceed the first apron because they are not hard capped under the CBA.
Bamba, now entering his eighth NBA season, averaged 16.5 points and 12 rebounds with the G League Salt Lake City team and brings much-needed size to Toronto’s frontcourt. Honestly, I thought they’d bring back Koloko, but this is a better buy low move.
Bamba can hold down a handful of routine minutes until the Raptors acquire a better backup rim protector.
I think this will be a much-needed signing considering what will likely be a negative update about Poeltl's status tomorrow.

If back surgery is needed for Poeltl then he can be out until next season. In the mean time, the Raptors can try out Bamba and still have the opportunity to trade Ochai and Gradey at the deadline for another back up Center and get under the tax. They need big guys that can rebound, protect the rim and pass to the team's main offensive threats. Shooting really is a bonus.
Mamu is not a Center. He is Backup at Pf maybe center. Mo Bamba is a Center.

@cyro asseo grange said there were gonna make an announcement on Jakob poeltl in near future, which likely doesnt sound good. either he shut down for a month, or more likely getting back surgery and out for season.
Where did you get Mo is gonna play 15 mins per game. Where did you get that he's gonna be Mamu backup? Do you watch raps games?
The guy is brought in to protect that paint. He can't do it if he play 15 mins per game. If Darko doe s that, we keep going on circle…….
Bamba may not be the Black Mamba, but his career 3PT% is a respectable 35.6%.
