The Hawks are a real-deal suitor for Davis. Just how far, though, are they willing to go in terms of a Davis offer? [Chris]Haynes also reported that Trae Young would not be included in such a swap, but that creates potential financial obstacles for a franchise not exactly known for lavish spending. Davis is owed $58.5 million next season and is likewise known to be eager to secure an extension in August when he becomes eligible for one … whether that’s with the Mavericks or a team that acquires him. Yet another variable here: The Mavericks have yet to see Flagg, Davis and Irving play together for one second and I’m told that new Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont is certainly among those in the organization who would prefer to see how that trio looks before doing something else drastic.

Raptors package is better. Rather have Barrett and dick .and Jakob. Bonfide starter next to kyrie Barrett. This Trade is basically a salary dump not doing it need a starter out the deal
if it increases the teams future success with Coopers timeline then it is worth looking into if not then no way we may as well keep him and ride with what we have.

Negotiate an extension for AD now and give him substantially less than his current salaries through his existing deal if he takes it. It makes his current 2026-27 contract year an expiring contract which would facilitate a trade.
AD to Atlanta is fine but Porzingis is not an acceptable trade player because he is just as injury prone as AD and he is not at all a replacement as a rim protector. AD is just a much better than Porzingis physically and mentally. If Atlanta wants AD, they need to include a couple of younger decent players and two first round picks but no Porzingis.

The NBA needs to install a new rule that allows teams to reduce start players wages when they hit the hard cap on the whole team's payroll. Currently the only way a star player would have a pay cut would be voluntarily on his part only. There should be a way to reduce a star players contract by a percentage that his contact is of the total team's payroll. What are your thoughts?
Flip porzingis to nets for Clayton and Thomas they could really free up some money
Would absolutely do this deal and I think the structure is what other offers will look like. The real difference between potential deals, in my opinion, will be in the pick/picks component. Every deal will be expirings to match salary, a good/young prospect type and picks. Whomever DAL can extract the most attractive pick/picks from will be who the deal is done with.
AD is not getting traded
Just let us know when a deal is done. Everything else is noise.

Keep AD, as if there's a choice. Keep him and sit him with Kyrie, develop Cooper Flagg, Max Christie, Ryan Nembhard. Go into the lottery with your fingers crossed, then to start 2026-27 season you got a healthy, rested Kyrie with maybe a 75% AD and you may have a contending team

Hey Nimrod, Luka was so toxic, Dumont gladly traded for AD (while he was injured) to get out of paying Luka $350M! Cuban and Kidd were both in on it. The Lakers and the Mavericks were traded their intractable problems.
No way I’m taking that trash for AD
As a hawks fan I probably wouldn’t do that trade. It feels like we are giving up a lot of valuable stuff for someone that feels like a throw away for the mavs and he might not play more than 20 games. It’s clear he has no spot on the mavs anymore as it looks like you are going to rebuild, so hopefully if we were to trade for day to Davis it wouldn’t be this much.
Also this will also financially cripple us with him and Trae on the roster. So I would probably pass if it were up to me but it’s not so we’ll see what happens.
