Some secondary scoring to support Cade would be a really big boost for this teams post-season chances. Either some solid 3-point shooting OR just a guy that can create his own shot and can actually score the ball consistently.
Team needs a legit floor spacer at the 4 if they want to get past the second round.
Love Tobias for what he’s brought from a locker room standpoint but our ceiling is very limited with him starting. He doesn’t shoot 3s on volume, and with Ausar and Duren being complete non factors from the perimeter our halfcourt offense will always struggle against bigger frontlines with a rim protecting 5. Ausar is rendered ineffective without the open lanes since teams will sag off Tobias to collapse on the POA ball handler. Cade gets blitzed on every P&R and doesn’t have the burst to consistently split defenses and attack the rim through multiple defenders. His only viable option is to try to thread the needle to Duren, and sometimes it works but it often leads to turnovers and easy break opportunities for the opponent.
I’m not sure how Trajan views this season. If it’s still a “developmental” year then he may stand point and only add a shooter or two at the deadline. If he sees it as a legit opportunity for the Pistons to make a deep postseason run given the landscape of the East, maybe he’s willing to pull the trigger on an MPJ or Trey Murphy. If not I truly believe the second round is our ceiling. Our defense is really good but the gap between ours and the other elite teams isn’t significant enough to compensate for our obvious lack of shooting. Even last year we were middle of the pack in 3P%. We’re currently bottom 5. Ain’t gonna be good enough in a 7 game series.
They either make some decent moves or it will be another first round playoff exit. If Duren wants 40 mill a year trade him now.
I'm pretty sure that There's plenty of guys out their the Pistons could bring in and overpay so I'm not worried at all
They desperately need Markkenen or someone with a similar skill set. They also need to let Dannis be the backup pg full-time. Caris Levert needs to get traded. Give his minutes to Sasser or Ron.
I forget about our trade exception sometimes. Coby White, Corey Kispert, and Dalton Knecht could help from a scoring or shooting perspective.
Anthony, In TRAJAN we Trust!😊

Will TL ever trade for a viable 2nd option? How much of a sample size does he need?
