I would contend that Luka is lazy and doesn't want to put forth consistent defensive effort. He uses the opportunity to complain to the refs as a way to "excuse" himself from running back on defense.

I've been wondering if over time the Dallas trade will actually be looked upon more favorably. Talent always has a limit and Luka has a lot of talent but if that doesn't combine with sustained effort it's likely that others will surpass him.
The problem is, these are exactly the kinds of players the Lakers go after. Guys who play defense like AD or Caruso are traded or allowed to walk, because that doesnāt sell to fans.
I guess the irony is Nico Harris was correct. Itās the returns he received. The other irony is JJ Riddick wasnāt a good defender.

If anyone doubts how this whole media machine works, as far as certain teams needing to be covered much more than others, consider the SGA trade vs the Luka trade; NO one got fired from the clippers, SGA is an mvp type player that just led his team to a championship, PG isnāt even on the clippers anymore. And that trade was BARELY spoken of. And yeah, SGA wasnāt this version of himself yet, but the media has made you hate the mavs GM, but yet the clippers gm just ran CP3 out of town and has a severely underachieving team, but NO ONE talks about them.
