Nuggets Offense Goes Cold In 4th Quarter Collapse | DNVR Nuggets Postgame Live

The Denver Nuggets fought hard and gave the Cavs a scare in a way they had no business doing. Jamal Murray had an insane first half but tired out from having to carry too much of the load and barely scored in the second half. The Nuggets played inspired in the second half as a whole but it wasn’t enough to get the win ultimately. Adam Mares, Harrison Wind, Brendan Vogt, and Duvalier Johnson come to you LIVE from the DNVR Bar to break down everything you need to know in this postgame edition of the DNVR Nuggets Podcast!

  1. Borderline superteam.

Watson and Spencer took massive leaps, then you have Holmes, who the advanced metrics love (we all know the Jokic story).

Try to sell high on P-Wat and package him with Zeke or something. Aim to get good value back with non-expiring contracts on two average-impact players, preferably with at least one guard.

I’ve been out on Bruce. Bad ball handling, bad from three, bad in the mid-range, bad at the rim. Some games he’ll score 0 points, sometimes with 0 stocks. It’s over.

I have us as slight favorites in the playoffs when healthy versus anyone. I also don’t think this is a win or bust window. If the FO is smart, they can make this team in to a superteam for years to come.

  2. If Pwats only made 1 of those threes i believe momentum would have shifted for the Nuggets. BruceB and THJ were not good at all. Zeke was decent, he fought his ass off it seemed. DHolmes was scared to shoot the ball. He had multiple opportunities. I hope he gets pass this. Id rather see him shoot and miss every time, than pass the ball and have Jamal take wild shots with the 2 seconds on the board. Can we get Russ back 🙂

  3. Assuming he makes the all star team, the nuggets should really look at trading Jamal Murray – "sell high" so to speak. He's a streak shooter. Looks great when he's hot, but you can't count on it when you really need it. Get back a solid 3 and D guy plus draft capital, then look to upgrade some other spots.

  4. Too many 3's shot in the 4th. When they stop falling, you have to try something else. I understand the lineup is decimated and that without Jokic there's really nobody that can create so many good looks, but they have to try and do something different. I know some of those weren't bad looks, but even when the good looks don't go in, it just sucks the momentum dry. The rebounding disparity was almost expected. No bigs to really fight consistently on the boards and so many chances for them did us in. Their TO's and missed FT's helped us, so I guess everything more or less evened out. A tough loss, when you play so well for 35-40 minutes and you establish an 11 point lead with a depleted lineup on the road. I hope they are not too discouraged, especially considering the good win vs the Raptors and playing so tough tonight. The next game is actually winnable. I don't know if AG and CB are back on Sunday, or sometime next week, but if they play like they did the last two nights, they should beat the Nets, especially with MPJ out. And then, well, it's going to be tough vs the Celtics, who are actually playing their best ball of the season. I hope AG and CB will be playing in that game and hopefully they can be effective.

  5. Literally don't shoot 3s and they win this game. I get they were tired but P Watt just kept shooting random shots and Holmes missed two and it was all rushed or bad shots.

  6. Nuggets should trade Aaron Gordon, he is paid so much, and he is injury prone recently. Or trade Jamal for something, Peyton should stay it would be pretty hard to replace him.

  7. My goal is accounting for playoff games too as mentioned before the season. So if you account for the 82 game season and then another possible 20ish games for the playoffs assuming the Nuggets get all the way to the finals, Nuggets bench players would need to average about 5.14 threes a game from here on out. DON'T WORRY GUYS WER ARE STILL IN THIS!

  8. Good try, actually good try. Didn't have enough size, and it showed. Offense in the clutch wasn't present. Other than that, actually great effort. Proud of the boys, they fought

  9. All this talk of trades in the comments needs to stop. Nuggets are down 4 starters and are easily a top 3 team with them back. On top of it there’s a lotta promising talent on the horizon. The current roster as it stands could win a chip this season and the next so chill

  10. great game…let's focus on 1xBKN, 2xWSH, NOP and CHA, we need to win those 5, any more than that is beyond great, but with what they showed, not winning against these tanking team will be disappointing.

  11. Murray was great, his 3 indicators are, TOV, 3p%, and FGA. FGA is irrelevant now, because, well he needs to chuck up shots (not like he's shooting 30% on 30 FGA when Jokic is on the floor )and both his 3p% and TOV were great.

  12. Very underrated about Spencer Jones is his clutch gene (on offense). Not all 3p shots are equal. But dude is hitting them in the 4th on Jokic kick outs to take the lead or close the gap to small number. CB is shooting 40% on higher volume, but in PO when it counts, he's shooting 10%. If Jones ever learns not to get foul baited in the clutch he should be closing over CB. (Too bad that will never happen), because with 5 people on the floor that can hit the clutch 3, your line up goes from just good to all time great. (when you have Jokic) Just look back at the KCP closing line ups, they lost in the clutch like 0 times…

  13. Adam, the difference between Westbrick and BB is what you said, but not what you said. He can be actually good in the small role on the floor, you can give him 10-25min in a small role and he'll be a positive, he doesn't have to be on the ball, that's the main point, actually he's better when not on the ball. Listen to Dev, his role gets smaller he gets better
