RAPTORS INCREDIBLE COMEBACK | Why the Bench Players Changed Everything vs Magic
The Toronto Raptors pulled off a miraculous 21-point comeback on the second night of a back-to-back versus the Orlando Magic. Their bench led it, mainly Jamal Shead, Gradey Dick, Collin Murray-Boyles, and Ja’Kobe Walter, who combined for 50 points.
I broke down the bench spurring on the comeback, Shead’s brilliance, and what this means for the Raptors moving forward.
0:00 – Comeback
8:00 – Jamal Shead vs IQ
17:00 – Trade?

DARKO BENCHES IMMAN-
I think Bamba should've gotten more minutes cause 4 min is like battle barely getting time to do anything
Hi Es. I believe the starters were exhausted from last night re the Warriors so, thank God Masai insisted on developing a bench. Jamal said he heavily studies how each team defends against the Raptors. Gradey and Ja’Kobe were great. Ja Morant? Lomelo Ball? Uh, No thanks. Peace🌬️⛹🏽♀️.
great name for the bench- “Comeback kids”🎉👍
Quickly, Grady, JaKobe? Picks for Trae. Raptors got enough d to make up for him. Atl has alexander-walker who is an oversized pg so quickly would fit a lot better off ball for them
Thanks for the breakdown dude. For us international fans it's invaluable.
I took a break from my coastal watch the sunrise walk this morning to watch it
Yall finally see IQ is an off ball player but that doesn’t mean we need an upgrade at his spot. He buys in simplify his game plays more off ball, or run the ball when barnes or shead isnt in game or as secondary creator and it works. Its completely fine as Scottie and the rest of the wings are good playmakers scottie is great. Scottie perfectly capable along side other ball handlers to not have it be his sole responsibility.
Maybe the Raptors coaching staff wish to collect sufficient data before making big changes. I just can't understand why they won't play Quick at the 2, off ball. Increase his value, then trade him.
Damn BI is shooing 1-21 from 3 in the past 3 games
Were kinda like the last year Pacers. Dangerous after 2nd half, poised for creating upsets lol
Don’t you dare call IQ a SG in a PG body. IQ is a PG, he’s a scoring PG who wasn’t worth that damn contract. IQs not a Kyrie, Maxey, Trae, Steph etc. IQ is more like a Jordan Poole, Lou Will, dare I say JR Smith esq. A leaders role alongside BI, Scottie, and RJ and win is just too big of a responsibility. IQ is better off as a sixth man.
Excellent breakdown as usual Es
It will be interesting to see how quickley takes the benching.lets hope he responds with professionalism and better play
Although I don't believe he is a point guard, better off ball
19:42 – Scottie is that PG of the future.
Uploading this high quality film breakdown just a few hours after the game ends is incredible. Thank you!
23:43 – playing with Gradey and Quickley, together, doesn't help.
A good lineup for him could be Scottie/Ja'kobe/Mamu/CMB/Bamba
He can protect the paint, and everyone else can switch on the perimeter.
24:09 – they don't really, he could be the "boxout" guy, giving others a chance to crash the glass.
Trade E.Q now
Not productive vs salary received or contract 😢
E.Q is a wrong match for raptors vs contract over prize player – front office wake up😂😢
Darko got the chain for benching Low IQ?
PG’s THINK 🤔 playmaking, disruption, involvement, tempo and flow et al. IQ does not he is an off-ball guard and he’s a pretty good one. Explain to me why Toronto has for years never respected the PG position by allowing players like IQ and FVV to kill the offence? Shead, is a limited young player who’s developing his game and he’s better for the Raptors O and D. He thinks like a PG and does what PG’s do and that’s a huge win over IQ. You must respect the demands of the position and this Raptors bs of trying to make something into what it’s not has to stop. It’s clear to me that the biggest issues of this team are the same as last year. No backup big, Sandro is a 4. No PG as IQ is a 2 and holes on D because RJ is a horrible defender and IQ isn’t much better. Yeah, IQ and RJ can get points but they lose their battles. It’s time to resolve these issues and stop this team from losing games they should be winning. IQ will not be a better PG a year from now so why’re we paying him to play that position. RJ is a liability on D so how does he stay a starter? Do you give him 35 million a year to lose his minutes? We need to choose a direction for this team and stop pussyfooting around. I don’t expect miracles but, I do expect a rational and logical approach.
I look so forward to these videos. I watch the game and think “oh Es is gonna bring up this play for SURE”😂
Trade IQ, Ochai and a first round pick for Garland
Shout out to Grady as well he was the only Rap scoring in the first half and held us in there until the other guys got going. 😊
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
Raptor fans need to do two things ……vote Scottie on to all star team …….send welcome cards to giannis
Good job on the post game analysis
Walter ,boyles,shead developing fast
Have to disagree about Shead, there is no reason to not start him over Quick other than Quicks Contract
Thanks for the breakdown Es.
Es, I disagree with you. Outside of Jalen Brunson , NY Knicks don't have elite ball handlers, same for Detroit, only Cade.
And no, Raps should not trade for Trae, Garland, Melo or Ja. All of these lguys have limitations that are costly & can't defend.
JS passing is more valuable than IQ shooting. Sheads assists come with good defence, and shooting becoming more reliable. Plus he’s always looking for Scotty. He’s getting better the more he plays. IQ is the opposite.
IQ off the bench as a 2 guard would work better. Just like he was in NY.
Keep doubting Jamal's ability to be a starter, I bet he proves you wrong.
Great analysis
I think the fact that a player getting paid $32M a year had to get benched in the 4th quarter for a 2nd year player and a former 2nd round pick because he was playing bad on offense is concerning.
Quickley at $20 mill per
Year would be fine but his contract will likely get him traded. He’s a good player but not at that salary.
CMB, Shead and Jakobe are developing nicely.
Shead rocks
Give Mo Bamba a chance. I'm not making a conclusion off of 4 minutes of game time in his first Raptors game after getting signed just 2 days ago.
It shouldn’t have been such a close game with Orlando missing key players
No surprise it was a knock'em down type of game given Orlando's style of play.
Most fans noticed the team emphasized defense after last year's all-star break but many were not convinced how good it was given the quality of most of the opposition. So far the team's strong record in closing games in a season dedicated to making the playoffs has passed my eye test.
The most silly shit I ever heard of is this new era stupid nba 2k 20 point rule applied to real live NBA games. Grow up it’s only good for bet365.
Scottie's move at the 1:40 mark: Sure looks like travelling to me, but I'm an old fart and apparently there's something new called the "gather" step. Is this an illustration of that or are the refs just "letting them play" in a tight game?
I don't know if the numbers back it up, but it seems to me Darko has been going with the two guard lineup in crunch time for a while.
Which would mean he wasn't benched for Jamal, who would've been the PG anyway, he was benched for Ja'Kobe.
