The only blame I have for Maxey is that he got the rest of the team sick. Other than that, he had an off night, it happens. Personally I look forward to the games embiid does not play in, the team chemistry is better and win or lose they have more intensity. Also having VJ always helps as well. Him and Maxey are the team MVP’s for sure.
Basically because Maxey is the centerpiece and the other two have a game that doesn't work with his. Maxey's game is about effort, energy, and these other two really don't care.
Two things, Embiid slows the team down both offensively and defensively. The other is missing VJ, he does so many little things on defense that don't show up on the stat sheet
Embiid did well. Maxey was trash tn. PG did what he had to. That said it's not embiid's fault, but his game just kills the flow of the offense. He can't keep pace with the young guys and forces everyone to adapt to his slow playstyle. We would have lost this game regardless but it's becoming more and more noticeable. Drummond is a better fit for the core of young guys. He was trash tonight too though. Just an awful outing all together, but McCain and maxey should be ashamed. If the shot isn't falling you should be taking it to the rim and getting buckets or whistles. Just waiting your assets

Maxey was just beat down a bit from the last run of high flying games. Paul George can slash but generally not going to draw guard attention to free up MCcain on some possessions since Maxey is run down a bit. Then Embiid clearly isn’t anywhere near 100% yet. The Nets just caught the Sixers on a baddish day. In the end it was only a 6pt or 8pt difference despite all the Sixers health issues.
I think last night was more about forcing Embiid and PG in the beginning of the game. When their game plan should be getting Tyrese off first and THAN everyone else. The ten pick and roll nail jumpers to start the game completely throws off the rest of the offense.
The issue with Mc Cain is they are not looking for him when he's open in the corners. Time and Time again I watched Maxey, Embiid, PG, and even at times VJ look off McCain to get there own shot.
Even though he sucked at pretty much everything else except when we played Boston, Caleb Martin use to always drive to the paint and look to attract, and kick out to the open 3pt shooter.
These guys got to make the right play or like Larry Brown/Hubie Brown said, play the right way. Make the simple extra pass. Find the open man. Court awareness is key.

They’ve been fine with Maxey , VJ, and PG being your “big 3.” Joel can’t defend effectively anymore and he requires the offense to slow it down & go through him when he is available. Even when Joel shoots it well like the first half of last night it take the ball out of your best player’s hands (Maxey) & it changes the style from fast paced to less effective with a half court game. Maxey had 5 at half time and never had a chance to find his rhythm. If Embiid is going to be a part of the team he needs to be okay being the third or fourth scoring option when he’s on the floor with Maxey , Edgecombe, and George.
Trying to figure out how to play with Joel Embiid is so hard for the team. The lineups have to change because Nurse doesn't believe he is going to rebound or play defense. He starts back up centers to play along with him so rebounding and defense doesn't suffer. And then Embiid takes these wild shots and doesn't get back on defense. And while they are trying to compensate and figure out how to make it work the other team is just running up the score. Its a big contrast to what they are used to doing naturally when they play together without him. Nobody can play their game with Embiid on the floor because he has so many weaknesses and he doesn't want to play a prototypical centers' game. Its not on Maxey or Paul George. He doesn't want to play the game his current ability requires him to.

I called this at the beginning of the season. Putting PG in the lineup is literally ‘Subtraction by Addition’ unfortunately.
