Lebron ain't going anywhere this season. Plain and simple. Lakers aren't going to him with a trade and if they did that would be stupid. For him to turn it down and have someone in the locker room who they want gone but won't leave. Best just to shut it up let them finish out the deal and move on after this season with Luka. Unless LeBron wants out clearly he doesn't because he could have been a free agent instead of playing this year with the Lakers I would just play this season out.
Lakers don't need Lebron. Send him to whatever team he wants. Lakers just need expiring contracts back. I would be happy with Lakers buying Lebron out

With the exception of Kawhi, there seems to be a stop gap in super stars between the ages of 31-35. This means a better longevity, possibly an 8 year run for the next dynasty build with a core of 27-31 year olds. They won't have to face a super star old guard of 35+ years old lead teams not like today with so many superstars over 35. Any older super star lead team can be overcome by a young athletic near all star group. Now, is trading LBJ for Jimmy Butler a terrible thing? Not really, if the Bucks would trade Giannis for Butler next season. Butler becomes the trade chip else the Lakers would have to sign & trade AR for Giannis next season. The Lakers before LBJ's return were the #2 team in the West. The team wasn't perfect but 85% there to be a true contender. If just Luka and Giannis, the team may go? The best bet is a trio of Luka, Giannis & AR for that younger build.
If the Lakers had to trade LBJ for another questionable superstar with two years of $50M annual salary left on contract, the better trade would be Kawhi because Kawhi becomes the trade chip for Giannis in season 2. The Lakers keep AR. The Clippers seem to be on a row lately with six straight wins. Maybe they found their rhythm or more likely are no longer concerned with the possibility of Kawhi getting banned from the Clippers due to the scandal investigation. It's ironic the Clips haven't made any contingency moves during this trade season for the event that Kawhi's contract is nullified. Let's compare the Lakers and the Clips without their superstar. The Lakers without LeBron is top 3 in the West. The Clips without Kawhi is last in the West. Somehow, the LBJ-Kawhi trade happens and the Clips get punished, they will still have LBJ despite the punishments. Kawhi is someone the Lakers need, someone who scores 20+ppg, plays defense without needing more minutes. The Clippers have to make a contingency offer of giving Bronny a 5 yr guaranteed contract and facilitators to develop his craft. If the Lakers refuse to renew LBJ next season, that's the end for Bronny, too. The exit speech: as the Lakers future build and I seem to be going opposite trends, I decided to be the best parent I can and provide the support necessary for my kids to be the best they can at their pursuit.
lets just keep calm and let Lebron expire. We will be free of all that drama in just five to six months from now. And then they get alot more out of this than with trying to trade Lebron somewhere which he will most likely veto anyways. Best way to go forward is to simply make sure to not do anything, and then have him be a free agent while Lakers get more cap space plus shedding a bunch of guys who are constantly injured or underperforming. Vincent and Vanderbilt for example…

Aside from that Luka needs to get in line. He was already traded for being a lazy slob on defense. The lakers franchise is several tiers above his level and he best fall in line. Kobe would beat him by 30.

That's all fine until you consider a new scenario: LeBron isn't leaving and is asking for another one-year max contract.
So, we're stuck with this roster for this season and next, with no defense.
At this point, Jimmy would give the Lakers a better chance to win.
And LeBron isn't retiring without a farewell tour, so he's definitely playing next season.
