The Orlando Magic are not where they hoped they would be this early in the season, fighting in the middle of the pack in the Eastern Conference. But the team is still in a good position to climb if they can get their team together.
Orlando has historically improved as the season goes on, the team’s schedule sets up for success and the team can still get healthy and reach their full potential. The Magic have work to do and none of it is guaranteed. But patience is warranted to let them take those steps.
That patience is what helped Anthony Black take his next step. He has been the surprise of the season, taking a major leap and helping fill the void through all the injuries. He gives the Magic a huge weapon for the Playoffs and has reshaped the team’s future.
So much so that the team should ignore the growing rumors of the Atlanta Hawks being ready to part ways with Trae Young. The Magic’s deadline focus is not on any major moves but on managing their cap and tax situation.

Coaching is the problem
I agree, no mid season changes but if they fail again change is needed. Mediocrity shouldn’t be ok.
We could be fully healthy in a week. Our offense has finally improved, especially in transition. If we can keep that, yet re-claim elite defense, watch out.

I hope Coach Mo can answer the call, this first half of season has just seemed like he lost the locker room. Hopefully we see the switch and don’t accept being mediocre.
Can people stop attributing injury to Magic’s lack of execution. When we go up 10+, injury doesn’t play a factor neither does talent. These horrible adjustments and body language says enough.
With AB due a contract next year and the cap being an issue, I think this is where we have to learn from past mistakes of holding onto assets to long. We should try and be the 3rd team in the hawks/Wiz trade. Send Suggs to Hawks, Trae goes to Wizards and we get CJ McCollum expiring contract. This will give AB to continue to start and we get a vet PG who has size off the bench all the while saving money next season if we let him walk so we can pay AB. Suggs is a catalyst but health wise is unreliable.
I love their integration of the 2 man game. For a team that’s great at iso, passing, and cutting— it utilizes all of that but keeps it within the flow of the offense.
(for me the best duos are AB/Paolo, Bane/WCJ, Jase/Paolo, and TDS w anyone haha.)
Side note- it’s hard to really compare them to previous seasons. Back then they played w more effort + togetherness. went hard on defense. great locker room. And very diff rosters.
