He's older and a touch slower. His defensive issues will only get worse. Now he's dealing with injury issues. He just aint worth more than 35 million and likely wont ever be again, but he'll make 49 mil.

Why would Hawks attach a pick to send away Trae Young? So what if he opts in the final year of his contract? It's not like the Hawks are one player away from a silverware, nor has Trae completely fell off the cliff. What's so bad about trading him next year? Porzingis is not going to command huge salaries next season, what's the panic here? My guess is Trae's agent leaked the story to put pressure on the front offices.

This Trade finally gives Miami a Scoring Point Guard, who can Lead The Heat. Trae would be a Great Compliment Player, to Bam Adebayo, Kel’el Ware and Tyler Herro.
For Atlanta, This Trade gives them 2 More Big Wings, that can Defend and Score. But, Equally Important, Powell and Wiggins are Experienced, Veterans with Championship Pedigree; something that This Young, Atlanta Hawks Team needs. Plus, Those Two have Expiring Contracts in Consecutive Years; so that Salary Space, Opens up for The Next 2 Years.
THERE IS NO NBA team where Trae Young the 3rd or 4th best player. If you try to play that game, you don’t know ball

NBA narratives are funny. Before the draft, Trae Young was talked about being the next Steph Curry or the next Jimmer Ferdette. Narrative took over and he was Steph 2.0. Six years later the NBA is finally acknowledging that the all time leader in NBA history when it comes to turnovers per game, and the worst defender in the entire league, might not be the second coming of Steph. 6 years of trying to make lemonade out of lemons.
