The mavs hold all the cards here. He has no leverage, Rich Paul is kidding himself if he thinks they have any type of leverage. I hope the mavs let him play out his contract, and can discuss a possible extension after he proves he can stay on the court for 20+ games in a row.
He already did why else did you think he went down on Christmas the way he did? He trying to prove a point to Mavs management that they can't win without him. Problem is he doesn't see that the Mavs can't win with a 55+ million cap charged to a lazy load managing slow big man where said money can go to finding a guard who can space the floor with Flagg and give max effort on both ends to get thw athletic big men/Wings space to rim roll. Mavs don't fall for it and don't hesitate to trade him for the right package and guard to put on this team.
Hope this is the last time the Mavs deal with a Rich Paul client in the future. Also for AD's sake he needs to understand that with these new cap rules money isn't being thrown out the window by teams like the late 2010s anymore. The reason why it isn't? Because of load managing ppl like him killed said market. It's the reason why this 65 game rule even exist now.

If AD wants to be traded and be paid at the same time as the Mavs will not extend him in any way, he should find a way to play all the available games this month and on an elite level. Else he will not only be costing the Mavs a tone but himself as well.
On the other side . A healthy elite davis will make the mavs start win games they shouldnt win as ending up in the best position possible in the lottery is the moat important thing to the franchise right now. I dont envy them at all . They have big decisions to make and all of them are risky.
