Bobby Marks On What The Mavericks Should Do With Anthony Davis

ESPN front office insider Bobby Marks joins the show to discuss what the Dallas Mavericks should do with Anthony Davis in the wake of the reported possibility that he’ll need surgery on his left hand and could miss significant time (a report which Davis has disputed). Plus, he provides insight and opinion on what the Mavs should do with Klay Thompson, Daniel Gafford, and other players up and down the roster at the NBA trade deadline.

  1. Mavs have already done the hard part and drafted their future star in Cooper Flagg. All of these lottery teams wish they could find someone like that. So we have good pieces already around him. Just trade AD for expiring contracts and open up 58 ,mil for players in the offseason

  2. hEs 1 Of tHE tOp 75 NBA pLaYeRs oF aLL tImE!
……..and they left Tony Parker out of the NBA top 75, great job.

  3. Not a problem.
Either we accept the only deal that makes sense (AD for the expiring contracts of Vucevic, Collins and Huerter) or we ride it out for the next two seasons till the summer of 2028.
Regardless WE WILL BE BETTER next year if we hold on to everybody and those picks lost won’t be as painful to lose. We won’t extend him and he won’t leave in 2027. Neither will Kyrie.
The money we will be paying them will be 104/M in 2027-28 and that’s the price you pay when you hire a shoe salesman to manage a billion dollar enterprise.

  4. AD and his agent Rich Paul is pushing a trade. That's why its conflicting reports as Shams himself knows it. Its similar to the Jimmy Butler situation.

Mavs need to really consider packages that can net them either of these players in Coby White, RJ Barrett, and Dyson Daniels and call it a day.

Better to build a team now with some momentum around Flagg to keep morale high in that lockeroom while moving AD's contract off the team.
