This team needs to let some veteran players go and find a way to get a 2026 first round pick.
Zion this time. 0-2 with a TO in the last 3 minutes. Trey hits that 3 with 4:04 left and Adelman takes a genius timeout to keep him/us from getting an offensive rhythm going. After that, they outscore us 16-6. Just way too many empty possessions down the stretch.
Overall in the fourth I think we had 4 TOs and 4 missed lay-ups. When the going gets tough, they're resorting to the Willie Green era Hero Ball that cost us so many close games the last few years. I just don't understand how or why the guys go away from what's been working the entire game whenever it gets down to the wire.
Smaller note, He gave good minutes overall, but Hawkins missing that put-back dunk when he should've just laid it in was big. Said at the time that was gonna come back to bite us, and it sure did. He hits puts that in and it's tied going into the last 24 seconds instead of down 2 and they have the ball. And Bey's shot looked really flat all night, including at the line. Does anyone on the bench notice that and mention it to him in the moment?
Tough tough loss man. Our lowest scoring quarter and their highest was the fourth. Not on the coaching staff these past two– the guys just need to execute better. I guess it's progress to fall apart at 4' instead of 6' or 8' like last game? Guys just gotta stop losing themselves down the wire.
The vets are better then the players that were drafted to replace them. Joe Dumars really created more problems then solutions.
