Why couldn't Jaden play the 2 for a short spurt with Naz at 3 and Edwards at 1? Just need to find way to give our rookie 5-10 minutes a game without cutting into Jaden, Naz, Rudy, or Julius minutes.
Randle can play the 1 or 2 offensively and defend the 3. Naz can play the 3 offensively and guard the 4. Joan guards the 5 and only the 5. Naz/Randle/Joan works
It's a good question. Joan with Rudy is out from a floor spacing perspective for any length of time. Naz I always thought was best as a stretch 5… going down to a 3 seems quite messy on D for Naz or Julius. And all this is assuming what for TJ Shannon when he's healthy?
5 lineups that work to get Joan involved. Minutes lost go to Mike Conley, Jaylen Clark, and maybe a hint of Bones Hyland. Also some of them assume some foul trouble

2. Bones/Randle/Jaden/Naz/Joan
3. Bones/Randle/Clark/Naz/Joan

Ben keeps talking like Naz and Randle are an effective pair. They are towards the bottom of league when they play together without a C. A 3 big rotation is not the same as RJ works, RN works, JN fails miserably. That is the exact scenario where you need a backup C
Also worth noting, the trade deadline is February 5th. We need to know if Joan can play playoff level basketball (unlikely,) and then we badly need a backup C for the playoffs. Even if it means fewer minutes for Joan this year.
I know the beringer minutes math is tricky, but I swear to GOD if I see Shannon get all his minutes back when he returns I’ll lose my shit dawg
Rudy averages 32 mins, so why can’t Joan get the remaining 16 mins? That seems like a good place to start.
Very few people are condemning Finch solely based on lack of Joan playing time, so very WEIRD hill to die on there, Ben.
His almost Thibs lack of playing young players overall is worrying, and his serious heavy lack of adjustments in games have me hoping NOT to lose him, but we don't lose Nori JUST to keep him.
Overall, I think the best move would be a Brad Stevens like Celtics move. Move Finch into the FO with TC and make Nori the coach to not lose him. Finch has done some awesome things, but it honestly seems like he has hit a wall with what he can do with this team, as there have been MUTLIPLE times this season where is was clear he lost the locker room. Nori as coach and Finch in FO would be a Win Win.
