Lakers had the perfect formula in 2020, won a whole ass championship and they fucked it up immediately. And somehow they were better the next year and they completely ruined it. Not only did they have everything they needed from both a roster standpoint and also a coaching standpoint but they literally were the pioneers of how the NBA plays right now. And I’ve this consistently, why they are the only “contending” team that refuses to get with the program pisses me off so much. On top of that when you look at the rest of the NBA teams are build through years of development and culture, the idea your gonna go from mid to champions off a few trades is outdated especially since they don’t have a whole lot of trade able assets. This is why I been saying it’ll take years for them to build a contender assuming they can. Also while Nico was outta pocket I don’t think he was too wrong. Luka while great just doesn’t play championship basketball, and No him getting to the finals don’t change that especially in this state of the league. I ain’t even tripping anymore. Hopefully bron gets ring 5 next year on a different team

I don't think JJ genuinely thinks "it's just another hot shooting night" whatsoever. He just can't say what he actually thinks about the team without damaging trade value of the assets.
JJ knows trades are MANDATORY for this team's success and he also knows they're in the works right now. From the ground floor as fans up to Pelinka, they're all waiting on the Mark Walter's takeover (and more importantly Mark Walter's bankrolling) to begin.
Also, we keep talking about effort, that they show they can be a good defense but not consistently. I asked this before how much of that is simply they can’t? If they can’t do it consistently they are not that good it’s that simple. They can’t defend, they lack athleticism, strength, size etc. Why you think players love coming back against them and why teams exploit them all of time? From top to bottom they are a walking mismatch

Lastly backing what trevor said, the lakers for years now target these short combo guards even after the championship. It’s like somebody on management is allergic to size
the problem and always been the problem since rob took over is that the lakers never eally hang on and develop their young players. from zubac to randle to carruso "goodwin" was actually a good fit". instead rob prefer to trade or sign aging players. rob needs to go!
The biggest thing the Lakers need to realize and do something about. Every other team loves to bring their best game against them and love to beat them so they bring that extra effort. So they need to at least try and match that and I just never really see that anymore. Something must be done about this team's absolutely ridiculous lack of effort

Hot take but I think we should trade Austin AND Luka and rebuild from the bottom up.

Max Kellerman would really be on to something by saying trade Luka and build around AR…Luka puts up alot of empty calories numbers if we're really being honest and always complains and fails to run back on Defense…better to sell high because Luka style of play won't win any championship

Their roster doesn't fit many things they're trying to do. I don't understand why there's no changes being made to try and fix that at all. Like let's just keep trying to force this square peg into the round hole as if it's going to eventually fit smh. Don't hear what I'm not saying. I'm not saying that the only way to change that is to change the roster although that wouldn't be a bad idea if possible (I'm sure they're trying that) but maybe change what you are doing to help fit what you have for now at least c'mon man. I'm really starting to waiver on if it was actually the best idea to extend JJ the way things are starting to go

Dodgers Walter won't touch this roster. He will make big management changes from GM down while add much more administration. They will get the best.
If lakers build a team where laravia and smart can come off the bench and the fans won't demand they start, we can contend.
That is the bar.
Luka, Reaves, Bron, laravia, jackson Hayes and smart are the only players that should be left on this team, the rest can go.
Trade Lucca for Giannis, if possible
I think the Lakers should follow the blueprint of the 2023 Nuggets. They weren't good defensively, but the Nuggets had a top 5 offense. The Lakers have three 20+ ppg scorers, but the team takes only 85 FGAs per game, second to last in the league. Luka takes 23 shots, AR around 17, and Bron 15. If they can speed up the pace and improve to 90 to 95 FGAs, that could get Bron 17-19 shots, AR 19-21 shots, and give DA, Rui, and Jake more shots.
Sometimes the best defense is the best offense. Maybe their identity is as a high-scoring team. Even with AD, the Lakers weren't a top 15 defensive team. They're top 10 last season with Bron and DFS handling the defensive holes AD left, but scoring became a problem vs the Wolves.
Eventually, the 2023 Nuggets fixed their defense in the playoffs, had a top 10 defensive rating, and won the NBA Finals.
