I def think they should take advantage of their last draft pick and try to increase your odds to get a top pick. It sucks cause all these players we have would have given Luka a improved shot at a ring but now have to talk about moving off Marshall, Klay, Gafford to tank now. Theyre too good to lose the needed games for the rebuild
Warriors and Lakers look like they're in a gap year all of a sudden. Houston isn't a real contender. Who knows how long Kawhi stays healthy.
The Mavericks are looking at a 7 to 10-year rebuild. The question is, will Cooper stay that long or opt out after his first contract?

Loved this pod. I hate being on team tank but as soon as Lively went down for the season so did All of my playoff hopes. AD can’t take that much of a burden and lead a team. It would be fun and it’s what the team wants(looking back on how the Vets had championship hopes for Coop and 🐐 potential) We NEED the draft pick. We also need the clippers to do better than the Mavs🤷🏻♂️ would be fun to watch, bad for the franchise.

Any team that purposely tanks doesn’t deserve to win. These guys are being paid millions to compete.. not to tank! You guys pushing for them to tank are losers.

Well…….if they lose the next seven then YES that will define the mavericks season.
If they win the next seven in a row they’ll be no real change. It’s a lost season.
They are one win behind the clippers for the 10th spot in the play-in.
Doesn’t matter.
The season was defined a long time ago by their injuries and inability to close out close games.
Still they’ll fight hard and that’s worth celebrating and commending.
Passing Memphis, the clippers, Portland and golden state into the 7th slot would still be quite the trick. Only 6 1/2 back. Especially now with the Butler injury and the relative softness of the teams ahead of us. A first round, hard fought loss to Denver or San Antonio would be an exceptional finish to the season and would give us hope for next year.
For your one example of a team that succeeded with two high draft picks in succession, there's probably 10 examples of teams failing. You don't dismantle your team go all in on the 2026 pick. You instead do your best to improve the pick while keeping your assets. Injured stars is literally the best way to do this and always has been. There's the famous case of David Robinson being injured and getting Tim Duncan.
