Auburn picked up its first true road win of the season Tuesday night, earning a 78-66 victory over Ole Miss in Oxford behind a balanced effort and strong play inside.
The Tigers took control midway through the first half after back-to-back layups from Tahaad Pettiford and KeShawn Murphy, followed by a dunk from Elyjah Freeman that put Auburn ahead 23-19. Auburn maintained the lead from that point forward, relying on interior scoring and trips to the free-throw line to build separation.
Keyshawn Hall led Auburn with 19 points, while Pettiford added 17. Murphy recorded a double-double with 16 points and tied a career-high 14 rebounds, and Sebastian Williams-Adams contributed 10 points along with two steals and two blocks. Auburn finished with season highs in both free throws made (32) and attempted (39).
Ole Miss stayed within striking distance throughout the second half and made a late push with a 14-4 run that cut the margin to 66-63. Pettiford responded with a three-point play, a dunk, and two free throws in the final minute to help secure the win.
AJ Storr paced the Rebels with 18 points, scoring 13 in the second half. Travis Perry and Patton Pinkins each added 15 points, with Perry connecting on five 3-pointers. Ole Miss entered the game on a three-game winning streak and battled throughout in front of the home crowd.
The win improved Auburn to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in SEC play, while Ole Miss moved to 11-8 and 3-3 in conference action.
