Can the Nuggets End Their Slide?
The Denver Nuggets and Jamal Murray are in a slump. It appears as though teams have figured out that the Nuggets can’t rebound without Jokic. And the West is so up and down, no one is good. The DNVR nuggets podcast breaks it all down.

Trade Zeke, Strawther, Brown, and Cam this February… players that have a proven negative force on the team
Wind a lil pissy in today’s show
32:40 edit: a 3 by your new weird scale of measurement.
Houston’s a 6 for me. They aren’t great. I would think 9 or 10 is a coin flip. Nobody’s got our number so i’d think 10
Adding the Emirates Cup games on top of the 82 games is just too much. Even when you lose early in the Cup the way the Nuggets did, your end of year schedule doesn't get lighter, you just get a gap early in the year when you didn't really need it.
We are still above .500 without Jok even with the last two bad losses. I'm still mostly happy with what I've seen from the team. The dog days are officially here. Just need to get healthy.
You guys are underestimating the Spurs. I'd actually argue they're our biggest threat, even over the Thunder.
The 2 things the Nuggets struggle with the most are dribble penetration and stretch 5s. The Spurs have 3 elite dribble penetrative guards and Wemby who's capable of exploding from deep. Spurs are also incredibly athletic, which we know the Nuggets can struggle with. Finally, the Wemby factor is so hard to gameplan for because there has never been anyone like him in the history of the game. You could lose a few games in a series just because his length will be such a stark adjustment compared to your average opponent.
I really hope the Spurs drop to the 4 seed so they can be the Thunder's problem in round 2
Hot take, but I think Spencer will take away a lot of Braun's minutes in the playoffs. Spencer is a much more confident and decisive player on offense. He doesn't hesitate on open 3s, which is huge for the offense. Braun has a bad habit of pump-faking on open shots created by the offense and essentially forcing the offense to restart from zero because his confidence on his jumper is fickle.
Momentum and energy from the young guys is gone, now it’s just about survival until Jokic is back.
we lost 2 in a row LMAO it's not a slump
For PWat – both Adam and Vogt make good points. I want to see sample size alongside the starters, but also the role that he has found lately is he has carried the bench as a number one option on this stretch, so where does he get relegated to when the starters come back? right into the role that he found in this stretch: number one option carrying the bench
Just please don't play CB over anybody…I trust Spencer to be better on D and hit his open shots, PWat better on D and also hit his shots…CB 3 seasons in a row, left wideeee open, shoots 10% and ultimately stops taking them…let the salary be the salary, CB for the 8th man in PO, because also when he doesn't play with Jokic his value goes down (and you can't play him with Jok cause he can't shoot)
I'm sorry but the tired/rest convos are the some is the least accurate commentary on this channel.
LAK = 0, they offense is shot chucking, their defense in non existent. (Jokic can literarily average 40-20-10 in that series). HOU = 1 they have no synergy on offense (at least they can put bodies on Jokic on guard the rest smwht.) MIN = 3 an actual team, just less talent. (Ant would have to go full MJ). OKC = 4, (you can't have OKC 5, when it was "5" series when we had "PO Jamal" shooting 30% off Jokic triple teams, and Westbrick as 20-30min guy, MPJ on 1 hand and AG on one leg, and like 5 playable guys total, honestly it's 3, 4 is giving them respect, I might give two, DEN was real bad last season and they went 7, Jokic is honestly the GOAT). LAC = 1 just because they have Khawi and he's able to shoot 100% some games. REST is in the MINUS meaning injured Nuggets are beating them like a drum in Euroleague game.
@11:14. Why not Daron Holmes though? Daron Holmes is not the best rebounding big, but if we lack rebounds that bad, why not throw a 6'10" guy out there? I mean Adelman already started Holmes in a handful of games this season (probably because AG was out). But still, I feel like just simply having Daron Holmes out there would solve a lot of the positional size problem. It's not like you have to play him 30 minutes. Coaching staff can just play him 15-20 minutes and go from there. If he plays bad, they can go Plan B and sub him out. He probably would be a better option than Bruce Brown or Pickett last night especially in the 2nd half. Keep in mind, Daron can also make plays out from the short roll. He helps primarily with rebounding, but he is also a floor spacer, a connector who can facilitate, and another versatile defender with size you can put on the floor.
Before Val comes back, I would run AG at the 4, Holmes at the 5, and have Zeke come off the bench as the backup center. In the 2nd half against the Lakers, I would have played a lineup of Murray, Pickett/Watson, Watson/Jones, AG, and Holmes/Zeke. Yes, the team is riddled with injuries, but Adelman still has some flexibility with his rotations. Julian Strawther is another option Adelman could utilize and play in stints. He just chose not to use the players we have and stuck with small ball lineups with AG at the 5 and the infamous 3 guard lineups that do not help with rebounding. 3 guard lineups also do not help at all if the guards we have cannot punish the opposing players and consistently gain advantages. Bruce Brown, Jalen Pickett, and Tim Hardaway all have their flaws/weaknesses, but most importantly all 3 of them are not tall enough to play the SF position.
