One of my favorite Finals behind my Dallas in 2011. I also believe Piston have the advantage that year bc of how they play and they know who they are that year.
If the Pacers would've won last year in the Finals, then they would have been the best underdog story in NBA Finals history. But that didn't happen. So the '04 Pistons remain that

Man, I remember watching this finals when I was 11 years old being a Kobe fan and being so devastated lol! The pistons had a legit all around squad that played incredible together, better than most teams in the early 2000s!
Man the lakers was feuding with each other they was not focused @ all what so ever , I have a homeboy that rolled the bench on that team by the name of tre fowlkes and he said the lakers was arguing every game and was not focused
The lakers beat them selfs with kobe playing with the first baby version of LeBron , the ego of shaq. My stomach still turns about when Kobe had those amazing weeks scoring 40 a game, and Phil came to him saying we losing the big guy , you got to end the streak, he was jealous of Kobe, instead of working harder playing harder he went the other route pouting about it , it still get me sick Kobe had to break that streak for jealousyโฆ. Kobe threw that finals. He didnt want shaq to win another ring. Helped his leverage to get shaq traded. Before you argue go find the kobe shaq post retirement 1 on 1 interview. Kobe said everything except I threw it intentionally.
2004 Pistons didnโt have a superstar but they had a bunch of good, talented, tough players that fit together perfectly. Chauncey was a solid point guard with good size who knocked down big shots and was money from the line. Rip was a knock down shooter from the perimeter and tough defender. Prince was a great slasher and finisher and excellent perimeter defender. Big Ben was a defensive monster and elite rebounder who could finish around the basket. Sheed was money in the post and could hit the three and was tough. Okur, Williamson, Atkins and Mike James were solid off the bench. And of course maestro Larry Brown as coach. A real TEAM.
It's unfortunate that Coach Chaumcey faves some legal matters currently. I wonder why he had to get into illegal gambling! Does these people desperately need more money in their lives? We make bad decisions in this life, right! All of us will fall and need some redemption. A second chance and to reset everything. And the fact os, we learn from our mistakes.
