  1. Great show. I’ve been saying for a couple of years the Lakers front office does NOT pursue “championship basketball”! They focus on stars and cheap role players to maximize profits from merch, ticket sales and tv revenue. I love that we were handed Luka on a silver platter BUT why was Max a throw in INSTEAD of DK? Even if most fans didn’t know it, smaller Laker channels were already reporting that DK was kinda…unintelligent, unable to learn new strategies. The front office KNEW that! I thought Max and Rui were becoming a good defensive duo back then. Hurry up Walters!

  2. LeBron picked the Lakers because of the Lakers past but he failed to do homework to make sure the FO and the scouting was legit. In reality both are mediocre. He would’ve been better off going to the Clippers

  3. Jason, I respect your opinion brother, but it was LeBron and the banshees that got them into the game from down 26 not Luka it was almost like his points were empty because they were giving up what he created or scored. LeBron and the bench group come on attacking on defense brings it within five clippers score, Luka three clips clips clips scores. Luka botches the last play of the game then boom that’s the game. His defense was bad and offense was super inefficient

  4. Klutch and LBJ are the definition of drama. The off season can't get here soon enough so we can be rid of their cancer.

  5. Kobe Sanders being a 50th pick, is why you can never give a pass to a team that wasted a 55th pick in a certain previous year 😂

  6. MAILBAG: Hi Jason, big fan of the show. Curious your thoughts on this: Have teams do baseball style games. Meaning, have the spurs play the thunder back to back at spurs and then later in the season back to back at thunder. You decrease travel time, get increased competition cause the team that lost will be salty, and get closer to playoff like game planning because you face opponent twice.

  7. So considering Sanders and Miller were 2nd round picks you are ready to admit that drafting Bronny was a mistake?

  8. Jason will watch this trash ass defence and try to persuade us the Lakers are just "following" a game plan. The Lakers literally mess up coverages while using 3-2 and 1-3-1 zones lol

  9. I think Jason is right that it is Rob’s job to put together the roster….but to make it seem as they could’ve told Bron “no” regarding Russ and it wouldn’t have had a major impact going forward regarding Bron and his camp is odd.. I think her biggest issues is once that failed he acted as if management was doing nothing to improve the roster and their moves failed, as if he didn’t push for it… The passive aggressive and sabotaging would’ve been at an alltime high had they not gone after Russ

  10. The fact that other teams aren't raising hell about the Kawhi-Aspiration deal is proof everyone does it

  11. Mailbag: How far out do you think the Blazers are from making a possible conference finals run? How much of a ceiling raiser would Dame coming back in time for the playoffs be for this current squad?

  12. NBA mailbag: Do you have any particular thoughts on the change in free agency, from massive superstars changing teams every year to now when I only see roleplayers changing teams if another team is willing to overpay for them. I thinks it's neat to see these homegrown, high-chemistry teams but it's also a bit boring and odd when all-NBA players don't want to leave in free agency (to collect on a supermax) but don't want to stay on the team either.

Any other thoughts on the recent rule changes like the 2nd apron and so on?

  13. bizarre? lebron's b.s. being exposed? effectively what virtually anyone with a modicum of crticial thought and observation has said for years. he's a self-absorbed narcissist who had the organization sign his mid son to an unwarranted contract. he hasn't brought the lakers to the promised land…a cheap bubble chip that nobody cared about then or now. whole saga is pathetic, from lebron himself down to his fanboys

  14. MAILBAG: Hey Jason, we love your show and we’re wondering if we, as Warriors fans are right to be sick enough of Draymond’s shit to want him gone. Yet again, he’s proving that when the going gets tough he quits playing.

  15. Kawhi is the best player on the floor. When healthy he was even better than prime Lebron. Tye Lue is a real coach, not a media persona. Harden is a more mature connesaur of the game whilst Luka is all over the place (especially his behaviour inside the court is joke). Lebron is very very old. When the Clippers are healthy they Lakers have no chance. That's all. Now lets try and get that 50minute rant we lost our time with, back please. The Lakers and the Clippers are not a relevant team when it comes to the NBA title this year.

  16. Mailbag

Is Luka the point forward Carmelo Anthony? I person’s think Dallas is in a significantly better position now than they were with Luka.

  17. Love how every time lakers lose bros gotta glaze the opponent instead of just saying lakers are bad

  18. Great commentary, as usual! This Clipper fan got especially pumped when you spoke the truth about us being better than the Lakers right now. Being a staunch Laker Hater, it's always good to see such an honest assessment from a commentator who also happens to be a fan of theirs.

    Nice job!

  19. Laker fans were trying to clown Clippers for those picks. FO doesn’t always pick right but these two have been good

  20. Totally agree with your take Jason,
I've been pulling my hair on why the Lakers don't deploy ball pressure enough…. I've never seen them press full court disrupting ball handlers as they bring the ball up the court…. Never deploy selective traps more frequently… Lay off the ball handlers too often….
I would play Vando in 4-5 min shifts just doing that….full court press, fronting, trapping…. Infact I've been saying this….I would start Vando just to set the tone on defense… My offense be damned… With Luka, LeBron and when Reaves comes back…. They can create offense 3 on 5…. If required…

  21. I knew things had gotten ugly behind the scenes with the Buss family but didn't realize how crazy it really was. Jeanie Buss was a lousy owner, flat out. The story reminds me a little of what happened here in Denver with the Broncos after Pat Bowlen–the definition of a great owner like Jerry Buss–began to lose him mental faculties. Basically a war broke out among his children which ruined the franchise for almost a decade. Finally the Penner Walton group bought the team and have turned it around in just a few years. Same thing will happen with the Lakers. Jeanie Buss may stay as a figurehead but the new owners will be calling the shots. Better days for the Lakers ahead IMO.

  22. Mailbag:

    Who says no:

Lakers Send- Lebron James & Bronny James

Warriors Send – Jimmy Butler, Will Richards & 2028 1st rd pick

  23. Caruso wasn’t really a cash constraint decision. They just didn’t value him… bad scouting. Bron wanted him.. so did AD.

They could’ve (and should’ve) kept him. And… Lebron has played ALL his damn contracts and have SEVERAL of his ideas vetoed for her to put that on Bron. Dumb… Everyoen wants the narrative of Bron applying pressure to organizations pushed on him, like he’s sat out, or faked injuries, or demanded out of an agreement. It’s revisionist fakery… haters man. I tell ya! lol!

  24. The way Rich Paul has put pressure on us and the Mavericks with AD do you really think Lebron didn't threaten the Lakers to get Westbrook??? C'mon. You would've done the same thing as Rob.

  25. Mailbag: Why don’t the rebuilding teams ever try to make moves to try to win. For example: Why doesn’t a team like the Wizards ever try to overpay for a superstar and try to build around them. I’m am completely baffled how a team can not even have desires of competing for the play-in after decades of losing

  26. Mailbag: Hi Jason, love the show. You've covered your reasons for moving to Colorado a few times, but if you had to convince someone to move there as well, what's your pitch? I am a college student looking for potential destinations to move to after college, and that area does appeal to me.

  27. Dude….Jason…..you are so on the pulse, it's just ridiculous. Loved your LaBron/Jeanie take. As a new-ish NBA fan, you break it down in such an understandable way.

  28. as a Nuggets fan who also supports the Mavericks and the Rockets based on where I live, I have really enjoyed watching the Mavericks play again now that Laconic Luka is someone else's problem! he can be "too cool for school" on someone else's team.

  29. Funny hearing you say Embiid prime "back in the day" when he was mvp 2023 ….crazy how that feels so long ago

  30. Mailbag: Hey Jason, there have been reports that the Rockets are willing to move draft capital for the right move in acquiring a guard. And after the Rockets win against the Pistons, I believe we should make a trade for one of the Bulls' guards (Coby, Ayo, or Tre). Any one of them would give us more guard play and the threat of an on-ball creator that can shoot and pressure the rim, so we aren’t so reliant on KD and Alpi creating all the offense. I would like to get Ayo as he would be the cheaper option but I think Coby would raise our offensive floor and ceiling, even though he would most likely be a rental. The trade I like is DFS + 2026 CHI 2nd + 2027 PHX 1st for Ayo or Coby. The Bulls would cash in on one of their young players and get a 3&D vet in DFS who can help their defense and would be an expiring contract next year since the last two years of his deal are non-guaranteed. My new starting lineup would be Coby/Ayo, Amen, Tari, KD, and Alpi with a bench of Reed, Okogie, Jabari, and Steven/Capela. This would have three shooters around Alpi and Amen while having two defensive wings to balance our lineups. Curious to hear your thoughts on who would be a trade target for you to help the Rockets improve? Thank you for your great analysis and all your hard work.

  31. People, especially Rob Pelinka, seem to forget that SGA was in the same draft class as Luka. He wants to win NOW too! He was just in the Finals. He saw SGA sweep MVP awards last season. Joker is a multiple MVP. Ant and Wemby are on the way. Build for NOW and the future. But that requires a competent GM.

  32. I wish LeBron never joined the Lakers. I wish he had gone back to Miami, to a fanbase that is not toxic and actually understands ball besides worshipping Kobe (God rest his soul). AD would’ve gone to the Heat, and they would’ve built a much better roster around them with a competent GM and owner. Not to mention a HOF coach he’s already familiar with.

  33. Mailbag: Hey Jason, hope you are well. Thank you for your great work. Question related to the trade deadline and the state of the Warriors right now.
What do you think Steph should do ahead of the trade deadline? I've been thinking a lot about it and I am such a huge Steph's fan that I feel the Warriors should explore all the big bang option in the next few days.
    – Trading Butler and JK for an upgrade.
    – Trading Draymond and Butler for a big splash.
    – Trading Steph, Draymond and Butler to different team and reset.
I want Steph to succeed and if I was him, I don't think I can sit by and have the "we'll wait and see over the summer" dialog the upper management have had over the years…
    Thank you.
