TRADES to make Celtics & Pistons DANGEROUS NBA title contenders

Jason breaks down trades the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons could make that would vault them into a more dangerous tier of NBA title contender. What NBA trade deadline moves would get Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum’s Celtics or Cade Cunningham’s Pistons into the NBA Finals?

  1. Boston has a $22M TPE, and is $7.8M under the 2nd apron. Easy to take either Smith or Sharpe into that, and then dump one of the vet min centers to be under 2nd apron. No need to trade Simons, which I don't think Boston wants to do for nothing.

  2. None of those trades do it for me as a Pistons fan. Markkanen and Porter are too expensive and don’t move the needle enough to make that make sense. Rui can shoot but no defense. I like Shaedon Sharpe, Nesmith, Micah Peavy, Bey, Portis or Jalen Smith. Just someone else with size that can shoot the ball. Love my team but playoff time they will sag off Holland and Thompson and triple Cade

  3. Celtics need a starting caliber center to fill in 25ish minutes a game in the playoffs around Queta. Zubac is the best fit and is cheaper than u make it seem. $20M salaries are pretty maneuverable in the league rn

  4. You got to be crazy if you think nets are trading MPJ for basically nothing. Pistons picks aren’t that good. Has to be Ron or Thompson. You think Lauri being better than MPJ is laughable

  5. Tobias LeVert Bobbi klitman 28 first 3 seconds and 2033 pick swap for mpj and Cam Thomas than trade Ivey Duncan 26 first 2032 first 2 second for Trey Murphy start
    Cade
    Trey Murphy
    Asuar
    Mpj
Duren improve shooting and perimeter defense add size and still have deep bench

  6. Agreed on Vuc, jalen smith and sharpe. basically just going after cheaper bigs. You dont need to trade simons for jalen smith or sharpe due to bostons tpe. They can send one of their minimums out (with a pick or 2) and take back anyone making 9-10M.

    Other bigs i like:

moussa diabate, dylan cardwell, moussa cisse, adem bona, jay huff, nick richards, vyes missi, goga bitadze.

  7. I don’t think the Celtics are doing much. They wanna reset their cap sheet and go for it next season. Plus getting Tatum back for like march would be the biggest add by far for any team this season

  8. What? Harris and Stewart for someone who gets injured some and isn’t a full blown defensive replacement for either a Harris or Stew.

  9. If Detroit can get Michael Porter Jr they will be very dangerous and would probably come out of the east this year depending on what they have to give up to get him!!

  10. We dont need vuc hes getting old. Queta giving us 10/8/2 first year starting. Can he get a chance to get better. Can he get a chance to pkay with tatum. His numbers are solid. We just need a vet big and to let this team build chemistry. When tatum comes back banner 19

  11. MPJ is the trade to make for the Pistons. I don't see them trading Javonte Green, he's been lethal off the bench on both ends of the floor.

  12. Mailbag: hey Jason love the work you and Jackson do, was wondering what’s your most exciting player to watch when there having one of those games of the superstars

  13. Imagine being a kid like Jalen Duren and realizing that you are probably going to make about 400 million dollars playing basketball in the next 10 years.

  14. PAUL REED is one of the Pistons best hidden gems- can't give him up gottammit! I'd say CARIS LEVERT, MARCUS SASSER, and maybe JENKINS (only if we really had to- I'd really rather not) are expendable….

  15. MPJ is not a 4, he played the 3 in Denver and he playing the 3 in Brooklyn. His contract next year is also FULLY Guaranteed. He had a stipulation in it, winning the title was one of the stipulation so it’s Fully and Brooklyn would NOT think it’s a win by getting back a weak FRP from Detroit for MPJ, he’s gonna be an All-star this season, he’s 6’10, in his prime and a career 40% shooter. He’s worth more to Brooklyn than an Tobias Harrison expiring and The 29th pick.
