SPURS POSTCAST: Wembanyama & SLUGGISH Spurs stumble through loss to Zion Williamson, Pelicans
Casey Viera and NBA champion Devin Brown recap the Spurs’ 104-95 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans Sunday at the Frost Bank Center, dropping San Antonio to 31-15 on the season.
Victor Wembanyama finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds but missed two pivotal free throws with his team trailing by 5 inside the final two minutes. De’Aaron Fox added 12 points for a San Antonio squad that made only 19 of their 32 free throw attempts.
Zion Williamson led all scorers with 24 points and 10 rebounds for New Orleans.
The Spurs return to the road for a quick two-game road trip beginning Wednesday in Houston against Kevin Durant, Alperen Sengun and the Rockets for the second time in eight days.

Team is in love with the 3 and can’t shoot it consistently. With the insistence on launching them, you gotta wonder what Mitch is actually preaching OR if it’s getting through to them. Cause one thing is for sure…Pop would have benched the starters early. Getting pushed around on your home court is bad.
FORTY FOUR THREE POINT ATTEMPTS for this team is about thirty four too many.
Well, the Spurs lost, the Thunder Lost(2ND in a row), and Timbs lost, all at home. The Spurs are still in second. Not exactly time to panic.
What a miserable half-court offense this team runs. Why won’t they play pick and roll / pick and pop basketball!? This team sets almost no screens and has a stagnant 3 point bail out offense!
The players are culpable but they have weak leadership, weak game plans and a weak coach. Why is his team shooting 3’s when it looses us more games than it wins? So many wasted possessions on missed 3’s, if those possessions were 2’s, they’d probably make about half of them.
Please play pick and roll basketball! If not that, a working offense. Fast breaks and 3 pointers is like AAU or YMCA ball.
Need to value each and every possession. A lot of carelessness from the good guys

Decent defensive game and pathetic offense. Addicted to dumb lazy 3s (12/44, Vic 2/10) with no apparent offensive identity, the Spurs usually denied their own offensive strenghts, nearly as if they wanted to self sabotage. No real offensive struggle repeatedly during the game, they just jacked up 3s hoping for a miracle like bad gamblers. The Spurs were totally dominated in pts in paint (56-32) and offensive rebounds (19-10) while they have 2 giants (Vic and Luke) that the Pelicans don’t have. It is ridiculous. Their offensive strategy was so bad that an intelligent 13-year-old kid could have corrected it easily. The Spurs looked like the worst offensive team in the NBA against the Pelicans who were just better ballers last night.
Its the coaching. That is truly it. This team has enough talent, but they aren't getting coached like they need to be.

And I better not see dumb comments like this: 'Relax maaan we're 31-15 2nd in the West duuude.. chill." No fuck you. It's time to panic when It's the same problems over and over and over and over, even in the wins. I feel bad for the fans that got out in that freezing ass weather just to watch one of the worst losses of the season. WE NEED SOME TOUGHNESS. Body these fools in the paint. I am so annoyed.

Mitch need to let Wemby know that he's not a shooting guard and get back in the paint, like he was doing the beginning of the season, he's back to taking 7+ 3 pointers a game.
Spurs right now basically live and die with the 3s, they made huge lead with 3s, and then lost those leads with missing 3s. And todays game was just in reverse where they miss all of em in first half, and made a 26-4 run making their threes in the 2nd, but failed to close out cause of missing them again.
